Scott, Thanks for your reply. Thats good to know as I remember the Klipsch were much too forward for my taste. I went to listen to the Mini-Monitors today as well as the ProMonitor 1000. Not sure if they were v5 or v6, but they should sound pretty similar. As expected the Mini's sounded fuller...
Apologies in advance for the long winded post. I'm looking for new speakers for an HT set-up in my Basement family room. The room is about 10W x 22D x 7H with an opening in the front left by the stairs leading upstairs and a larger opening to the back left leading to the laundry room area. The...
Robert, Thanks for your reply. I have an entry level universal dvd player, so I am looking to test out some multi-channel media like SACD and DVD-Audio. I also posted this question over at AVS and a member there told me the middle one is not really DVD-Audio, it is a DTS-CD. Do you own...
I'm new to multi-channel music and want to pick up the Eagles Hell Freezes Over. There seems to be a few different ones out there. Which of these are the best to get? h ttp://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=40106896&loc=322&sp=1 h...
Well, thats the 3rd forum member who had the VSX-811 and mentioned that they needed to listen with the loudness function on. I believe that at least one of the forum members have the 1014TX now and mentioned he doesn't need to have the loudness function on anymore. I have heard the JBL E...
Mike, I had the JBL E30s and E20's paired with my 1014TX for a few weeks before I decided to go with a Paradigm setup. I think the JBL E series is a great bang for the buck and the E30's really are nice sounding speakers. IMHO, I think the JBL E series mates very well with the Pio 1014TX.
Robert, Its been mentioned in the past by various forum members that the 40MHz bandwidth on the 1014TX is sufficient to pass HD signals with no degradation. What is more bandwidth going to do for you?
Another update: Well this is what some of you have been waiting for. Here's a picture of the back panel of the upcoming 1015TX (1015TX is the one on top): Looks pretty much the same as the 1014TX back panel except for the extra set of component video inputs. The digital inputs and...
Here is what I have found on it so far: Pioneer Press Release http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...756416,00.html CNET's coverage of CES 2005 has a small picture of the VSX-1015TX. Looks like some of the logos have moved to the flip down door from where they were on the 1014TX...
Looks like you are going to have to wait a few months on that one. I can't imagine it being much different from the 1014TX's back panel except with an extra set of component video inputs.
Brian, I have almost the same exact speaker setup with a Pioneer 1014TX except I use the ADP-170's instead of the Cinemas you listed. My room is 17 x 15. The Atoms sound great in my room but as others suggested, you might want to look into the Mini-Monitors. They are not small bookshelf...
Pioneer announced their 2005 A/V Receiver line-up for the regular Pioneer line. The receivers are due out in March and April of this year. Most of the new Pioneers will have 3 component video inputs instead of the 2 found on previous Pioneer receivers. Also all the receivers will have WMA9 Pro...
Chuck, Nice review. Now I hope I don't ruin it for you when I tell you that Pioneer just announced the VSX-1015TX that is due out in April. Just go on enjoying your new 1014TX like I am!
Guy, Pioneer along with other A/V manufacturers come out with new models every year. The 1014TX was announced in January 2004 and actually hit the stores around late Summer/Early Fall 2004. Figure a replacement model to come out at a similar timeframe in 2005.
Sean, You might try to set the F/L/C speakers to small and lower the crossover setting. The default level is 80 Hz, so you might want to set it lower than that. This way you are still using the bass capabilities of your fronts but letting your sub handle the really low frequencies. You might...
Mike Gov, Here is an email response from Gary Takeda a while back regarding the center channels in the Performance line: ------------------------------------------------------- Hi Yung The "Recommended Systems" only list some of the possible combinations of models. The CC-270 and...
The Athena AS-F2's are front ported so I think what you want to do would be ok. The Crutchfield site has an article about speaker placement that you might find helpful.
For proper imaging, the speakers should ideally be spaced apart about 1.5x the distance you are sitting from the TV. So if you are sitting about 8ft from the TV then the speakers should be about 12ft apart. Also, its proabably best to give at least 6 inches from the side walls.
