craig, in the yamaha receiver setup, there is an option to send LFE to both Main's and sub, either, or one. This setting exists even if you set your mains to small. i have been wondering about this particular setting too.
WOW! what a great tip from the people here and the support from partsexpress. Mine shipped about 3 weeks back, I called them this morning and they refunded me the difference in price. yay!
my fiance thought the mini's sounded better too and wanted to go for them so we wouldnt have to upgrade soon . :emoji_thumbsup: i'm happy with my choice though....
I went to buy the Atoms and ended up buying the mini-monitors. The difference in the showroom was amazing but since i couldnt audition the atoms at home, i dont realize how good my mini-monitors are currently (paired with a dayton 10" sub).
Hi ShaneR I too bought the dayton 10" last week and waited to watch the SW:trilogy on it :) its a great sub, unfortunately, since this is my first sub i dont know how a well setup sub should sound like. since you are obviously quite happy with it, could you share some of your settings for the...
this may sound like a noob question, which it it, so laugh if you want to :) I bought my very first subwoofer and it arrived yesterday. (Dayton 10" 100w from partsexpress.com) - i have a separate thread about connecting it etc. I have it connected to a yamaha htr5740. now, having never...
cool, thx for the good reviews. it just came in!! its bigger than it looks, but fiance didnt complain ;) whats the best way to connect it? it came with a red/white rca cable, but my A/V receiver has a single jack for sub-output. edit: i connected it mono, to the red input like the sub manual...
No, this is not the titanic mkIII. this is only the 100w version. the one thats for $129 on partsexpress.com If i set front speakers to small, what should I set the crossover to?
Taking the advice of forum members, I decided to 'splurge' on a Dayton 10" sub. Having never before owned a subwoofer, I am excited, but also a bit wary. I know there's a subwoofer calibration post somewhere here, but i couldnt find it. I currently have a yamaha htr5740 receiver and a pair...
well, i understand what you guys are saying, but i probably wont be upgrading from a 2.1 setup for about 3-4 more years. its not that important for me. so i'd rather have a low-mid level speaker system, than a full blown one. I feel like adding a sub to my current setup will round it out to...
I currently have a 2 speaker setup using paradigm mini-monitors and a yamaha-5730 receiver. for an upgrade, less than $250, should I go with a subwoofer or a center channel? I'll be using this for all-round purposes, TV, Ht, and Music if its a subwoofer, i've seen the dayton for $150, the...
I've tried to google "Dayton subwoofer" but I havnt found either their website or places where they are sold. can someone point me to the correct site?
Nick I myself went to a audio store to buy the atoms and after auditioning them decided to audition the mini-monitors ( $380 US) Bad idea, the mini-monitors blew away the atoms and me and my fiance were more than happy to get them. the best you can do is listen to a wide range of speakers...
Can I use a Subwoofer from my altec lansing computer speaker 2.1 setup connected to my yamaha a/v receiver as a temporary HT subwoofer solution till I buy a real sub? as long as nothing will blow-up and they will reinforce my mini-monitors in the bass dept. i am ok with it.
Mort, I have the holy-grail! And I can attest to the fact that it does indeed rewind my DVD's! hehe http://www.dvdrewinder.com/ So you guys think its the dvd player that may be causing the skipping rather than my receiver?
thanks! i've looked at HSU and am considering the stf-1 / stf-2. My living room is rather large since it's an open floor plan condo that includes the dining are, kitchen, and an office/den. but my seating position is quite close to the tv, 6'-8. i guess i'll have to measure the open area and...
thanks for explaining that to me. my seating position is about 8' away from the TV in an awkwardly sized room so i dont know whether i'll be able to move my speakers around toomuch. right now, they are about 6' apart.
I just bought a pair of paradigm mini-monitors and a yamaha htr-5740. my fiance hellped to pick out the mini-monitors over the atoms which we originally went to audition. so now she wants a subwoofer, albeit a small one. I dont want to spend too much right now, maybe in a couple of months i...
yes, the picture does very brielfy pixellate to a minor degree when it drops out. these are both friends dvd's (I dont own any yet :) so they could be dirty
I'm new to receivers and HT equipment so please bear with me. I usually listen to music, cable, radio, etc. through my Yamaha HTR-5740 and 2 Paradigm mini-monitors with Neo:6 sound. I like the way it sounds even though i dont have a full complement of 5.1 speakers. My speakers are set to 2...
Hi everyone. I just bought my first DVD player (JVC XP-NP10S i believe) Its hooked up to a Yamaha HTR-5740 a/v receiver with component cables and a toslink optical audio. I'm watching /listening on a Sony Wega 20" TV and a pair of Paradigm bookshelves. I've noticed in a couple of DVD's that...
from what i've read, there are only cosmetic differences between the yamaha's line of HTR and RX equivalents. I'm not sure whether the 2 that you have listed are equivalent models.
