I see rainbows on every single DLP set Ive come across, the Good Guys sale person showed me one of the top dlp sets and I told him I saw rainbows in it before he mentioned what type of tv it was. then he looked at me like a freak as if seeing rainbows in a tube dlp is abnormal. anyhow... I...
Actually I was just going to plug them in myself, but yes a blind testing is way better. Since Im the only house dweller that knows how to use the stuff, Ill have to find my brother and tell him what to do. though I dont think anyone is will to sit there with me and switch them out ever 30...
Well, Ive made a billion cables since I got into audio NOTE: I know many do not believe in cables, those into this stuff may find this a fun read. This is however not a form of advertisement in any way, and just a fun test to conduct for those that may find it an interesting read. So please...
I would like to hold on to the cables, I spent time and money making them. Im just afraid of using it on a new receiver, if I upgrade :frowning: Yea after my jacks got wrenched out, I went straight to rat shack and got the deoxit kit. It fit better after, but still obtusively tight...
I was plugging some SLVR Cardas conectors into my HK to test them out, the connectors were oxidized, but I didnt think silver oxide was anything bad, I noticed that the grip was temendous, possibly friction to to oxide, and when I pulled out the connector it took out the ground ring from the...
the biggest difference is build quality is far superior to rat shack. also higher quality materials will last longer then standard rat shack. other then that regarding performance the line is blurred, I just build them because they look cool on my system :)
nah not commercial at all. its a hobby of mine, though, Ive decided to slow down and stop just recently. I TRY to make the cables look professional though, which sometimes get mixed responses from people thinking Im an actual vendor of the trade. But Im just a DIYer.
14 awg stranded silver plated copper, ground wrapped around L/N. hosiptical grade marinco and wattgate power connectors. Teflon insulation. what do you think?
sub cables require a coaxial cable, I would assume a 75 ohm coax should be fine. the star quad is a microphone cable, though I do believe they would work also with a sub. if you get a coaxial cable, you just strip it, unbraid a part of the shield solder it to the ground and the signal...
These are not finished yet, I just plugged the connectors to the end of the cables, have yet to solder, im waiting for avcable to send me my custom heatshrink :) 22 awg silver plated copper, teflon insulated x 4, Litz braid configuration, sleeved with white flex then a second layer...
the plugs in those pics were ebay cardas clones, I just placed an order from wellbourne labs for 12 silver cardas plugs and will recable my entire sacd set up. I purchased some shielded teflon silver plated copper wire from ebay, its military/aerospace type wire, but was in a two lead...
Ive assembled a photobucket gallery My photobucket DIY cable gallery tell me what you think? Im also an art major, so I like tweaking the photographs, composition and lighting. not to mention, all the cables I make have to look aesthetically pleasing :) its almost an art for me...

it is one layer of shielding. Did I make a typo? Made this one tonight, took me a few hours. Im gonna use it for my sub, you cant see it in the pics but its a shimmering cable, there is chrome, them black, then white. I thought I would never have a use for my old custom shrink labels...

Completed my first pair of RCA interconnects. what do you think? the locking plugs were tough to terminate, the silver solder wouldnt stick, took me a while to get a strong connection.
havent tried them, I dont even know if they are long enough, I made them like 3 feet, these were cables I made with some new cabling and plugs just recently. These were pretty much made for fun, one of these days Ill have to dig out the av receiver and sacd player and plug them in.

the soldering is fine, here are some pics regarding the steps, I ordered teflon silver wiring from ebay in bulk, braid them, strip them and solder them with silver bearing solder. tip, ring, ground :) not too difficult, make sure you use a multimeter. just solder...
