I have and it's too hard to design a passive x-over for it. And the price for a good active x-over plus additional amplification was out of my budget. But it can be done just fine. Note though that mouting options for your tweeters will now have to be custom made. The auto versions usually...
This taken from Rick of RAAMAudio I like Rick's prices as he's very reasonable compared to name brand items like Dynamat and Cascade Audio. As an alternative many have had great success with FatMat. As for purchasing, get it on Ebay as it's a bit cheaper then his web price. he's the seller...
Perhaps not, but the Adire Koda's will be perfect. Additionally, the car door is actually a rather large enclosure if done right. It will never be 100% sealed. But you can cover up enough of the space with the right sound dampening material, perforated aluminum, and open cell foam. There is...
The difference other then being a pain to work with, would be nothing. You could use lamp cord if you wanted to. I would though be worried in the added stress added to your binding posts from the weight of those cables. If I may suggest some good inexpensive wire, www.partsexpress.com always...
The enclosure portion is easy. You can use just about anything. many people have made intricate wooden boxes. You can use an old receiver, a cigar box. BTW, I love my gainclose from Brian as well. However I bought a pre-fab enclosure from Peter Daniel More pics of other gainclones can...
I feel this particular woofer is not really up to par for a HT environment. It may go loud, but does not hit low enough to cover all the bases. Perhaps sell it and look at a woofer from Adire, Parts Express (dayton), or Stryke Audio. You'll probably even have money left over for a good...
I must say that your sub box is impressive in that you even went as far as routing the edges of your brace. :) If your into music like rock and perhaps HT, those speakers should do the trick. However the midrange may suffer a tad for vocals and such. Sorry no one posted any opinions for...
HT's, pre-wired homes, in-wall speakers, and more are all things that people are requesting in their newly built homes. Or the builder is offering them as upgrades. On top of that, people on their 2nd or third home are getting dedicated HT rooms now that they can afford a larger home and have an...
I'm curious why no one has mentioned the Rythmik Audio servo kit. You could have a low Q setting for the 'tight' bass sound, or a looser Q setting for more boom. They even have finished enclosures.
Taken from website "The RMX 1850HD provides improved thermal performance that gives you higher continuous power in 2-ohms stereo or 4-ohms bridged applications (a RMX 1850HD exclusive!)" But it's a good amp for your application albeit a bit overpowering depending on your enclosure.
It really wont make too much of a difference. You should always start on the cheap and upgrade down the road so that you can truley see what makes a difference and what doesnt. I've spent countless dollars on so called magic resistors and uber 733t capacitors that make the sound seamless and...
A spiral-up cut bit is a must. I think that is what is meant by a straight bit? A round over is also good to make some pretty recesses for your speakers. I'm kind of curious as to the uses for the rabbiting bit, I may pick one up for my next project coming up. :b I guess channeling two...
I've had good luck with rubber cement and a piece of electrical tape on the backside of the sub. Although some would disagree that rubber cement is too harsh for foam surrounds. I figure I'll only keep the sub for a couple years at best. Some of the guys here much sooner.
parts express recently had a sale (perhaps it's still going on) for the model 200 and another smaller model for the price of one. I decided to get another one and see how long this one lasts me. Hopefully it will go farther then 4 holes. I may though after getting a drill press make...
