I'm obviously in the minority here, but it doesn't bother me that much. it sucks, yes, but if the sets cost much more, I wouldn't be interested in getting them. I don't have a lot of money and must gauge my DVD purchases carefully. I'd rather the set be $34.99 without the original music than a...
disc 5 of my copy is cracked, but I don't know if that was because of the packaging or just a defect. I bought it off eBay, so I couldn't return it, and I couldn't find any kind of customer service department on Universal's website.
NewsRadio had better come out in 2005. otherwise, I may have to hurt someone. my wishlist is: The Adventures of Pete & Pete, Jake 2.0, Reboot seasons 1&2, Space: Above and Beyond, and The State. though I'm not holding my breath for any of them.
I think the biggest problem with S7 was the overuse of Ezri. she got like, three or four episodes to herself. and while she got better as time went on, at first she was really a weak link in the cast. the writing also wasn't as strong as previous seasons. there were a number of clunkers, like...
people don't like season 3 because half the episodes are crappy movie ripoffs. and because JRD left. I did like the Christmas episode they had that season (with DS9's Chase Masterson guest-starring), though. I haven't seen much of the Sci-Fi era. I lost interest in the show once they quit...
as long as what you want to watch is on one of the networks, anyway. in regards to TiVo, it's not really worth it if, like me, you don't watch much TV. aside from what I have on DVD, the only thing I watch with any regularity is The Daily Show. (I'd watch Smallville, but we don't get the WB...
- I hate watching stuff on TV. commercials, station logos, crawls, syndication edits... plus I have to watch it at a set time. and there's always the possibility of someone else watching something when I want to. - I get more replay value from a season of a TV show than from a movie. I'm not...
Drumhead, Darmok, Inner Light, and Tapestry are all generally considered classic TNG. The Big Goodbye, being from Season 1, is not that great. it's probably a better deal than buying season sets, as TNG was never the most consistent show. there aren't any Borg episodes on it, though Family...
it's pretty easy for me, because I tend to only buy DVD sets of shows I really like. currently that list is just Sliders S1&2 and Futurama vol. 4. I was kind of disappointed with Garfield and Friends (I remembered it as being better than it was, though it's not bad), which reinforces my sticking...
I don't generally care about the special features. there are the occasional exceptions, like the brilliant commentary tracks for Futurama, and I love the DS9 special features, since it's my favorite show. I tend to just buy shows that I really like, so special features aren't a factor...
I got the first disc of the first season from the library, and couldn't make it through the pilot. but that's just me. if you want to try it out, you can just turn on Sci-Fi. sometimes it seems like it's the only program (aside from bad movies) they have anymore.
I'd be surprised if Paramount doesn't do anything with Jake 2.0. the fanbase is pretty solid, and there are plenty of people (like me) who didn't get to see the series when it was on, but got the promo (bah) disc they sent out and liked it. plus they've got a built-in sales feature: "contains...
"play all" or lack of the same doesn't bother me a whole lot. the only set where it's actively annoyed me is Buffy S2, which has those elaborate menu animations that are neat the first time, but quickly get tiresome. higher on my list of pet peeves is not having a chapter stop after the...
a good idea, but is it feasible? it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to get clearance for the voluminous show/movie/commercial/music video clips.
I would be interested in picking this up if it wasn't $35-40. I'd think a lot of people (myself included) would be more inclined to give it a shot if it was, say, $20.
