Sister, Sister isn't a Nickelodeon property. Reruns may have been run on that channel but it was a network show, and Paramount is releasing it. (With no original music, probably).
FINALLY! This has been one of my most wanted shows. Although, since it's CBS/Paramount, I know most music will be cut out, but fortunately, not a whole lot was used that I can recall. Sister, Sister DVD news: Announcement for Sister, Sister - The 1st Season | TVShowsOnDVD.com
The entire first season is also on Hulu.com but apparently those are straight from the DVD, with the music subs. Apparently it is a legit site though, seems similar to In2TV.com.
I have just about all the episodes from the CBS recordings and I agree that it was an absolutely adorable show. I'd love to get it in a higher quality than the VHS transfers but they will have to do. I agree, it would be very, very hard to market the show after what happened to Rebecca...
Having a successful show on television nets far more than a successful TV DVD ever would. Producers' main concern is creating the show they want and making sure it stays on the air, not home video releases.
This is one I've been waiting for for awhile as well. There was a rumor about a year ago that Paramount was considering the "Premiere Episodes" (I'm assuming the first 6 episodes which comprised the first season) but nothing ever came of that. At least it's on both ABC Family and WGN, and each...
How bad is the music replacement? I'm sure I'll get the set regardless, but I'm curious. I know they cleared everything for the earlier seasons, I wonder what the change was here?
I hope that no other music is changed, despite the disclaimer. It probably is though. Sheesh, Paramount is really getting cheap regarding their music clearances. It's like they haven't attempted to clear anything lately.
Charmed Lives was never a show. It was supposed to be a spinoff of Who's the Boss, and they made a back door pilot for it that was never picked up, but airs in the WTB syndication packages. You may be thinking of Living Dolls, the other WTB spinoff that WAS picked up, but only aired for 12...
Which are the three episodes that have been changed? I know that the Pilot and Jennifer's Boyfriend have been changed, what is the other? And are those definitely the only episodes affected by music replacement? Thanks!!
I was seriously just thinking that. I like the Golden Girls, but since it comes on in syndication frequently, I'd probably only consider buying the seasons if there was a good sale like this one.
Sister, Sister was first on ABC, then the WB. There was some talk of Paramount releasing the "Premiere Episodes" about a month ago, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
I'm hoping for The Game, which is a spinoff of Girlfriends. Since it's the CW, I'm sure it's not doing fantasically in the ratings, but it was picked up for a full season. With Girlfriends coming out on DVD soon, I'm hoping they'll consider The Game as well.
This is pretty off-topic, but would you happen to know if The Wonder Years on TVTropolis is unedited? Another off-topic question: Do Canadian television stations cut many shows for syndication? Based on what I've heard, they seem to be a lot better with that than the US. Back on topic, how many...
I'm wondering about this too. I know the first season sold very well, and I've heard (although it could be a rumor) that Universal secured music rights for all the seasons when they released the first one.
Punky Brewster. I remember watching the reruns in middle school, and I loved it at like, 10. I got the first season two years ago, and I don't think I made it past the first disc. But as for a show that actually was far better than I remembered, I'd definitely say Doogie Howser.
Will and Grace is released by Lion's Gate, right? Have they EVER released a set that is not the syndication versions? They really seem to be the worst offender of releasing edited sets.
Sister, Sister The Wonder Years Family Ties Who's the Boss continued Growing Pains continued Runners-Up Charles in Charge continued Just the 10 of Us Jem and the Holograms continued
I totally agree. The first season was alright, but the Powell family is the one I remember most, and definitely funnier. I've heard that sales weren't great, though. Does anyone know, since the second season and on was first run syndication, do they cut any scenes when airing it in syndication...
FYE rebates are a PAIN. I've heard that they try to make loopholes after the promotion has ended, to try to justify not sending the rebates. I sent a rebate for the Facts of Life DVDs, and then they sent me postcard telling me that not all items were submitted. They didn't tell me which items I...
Sister, Sister (there was a rumor by Paramount for this a year or two ago) Family Ties (also included by Paramount as a possibility) The Wonder Years (I know, I know, music rights, but how much would I LOVE to see this show as it originally aired?)
