Amazing, Robert! I have to wonder if this is the same “great” customer service company as United Airlines, Bark of America, Citibank, Standard Oil, and many other businesses use? JW
Talking about missing films from Warner....I would love to see a Jack Webb set with “Pete Kelly’s Blues”, “The D.I.”, “-30-” and “The Last Time I Saw Archie” as well…..not too sure if some of the rights are with Warner, Universal (were they sold along with the Dragnet feature and TV show ?), or...
The Great MGM Flops Collection PARNELL ICE FOLLIES of 1939 KISSING BANDIT SUMMER HOLIDAY HOT RODS TO HELL LIVING IN A BIG WAY The MAN FROM U.N.C.A.L Collection TV shows or the 7 "films" which were released in the mid 60's The MARION DAVIES collection SHOW PEOPLE THE PATSY The...
>>>>The new release will use the Ultra-Resolution process....That alone justifies a new purchase....>>>>> I found the original MGM DVD release had a richness in color missing from any of the later WB reissues......I do wonder what "look" Ned Price and folk are going for this time around?
All the African exteriors for KSM were shot in Monopack stock---which was sort of a low con Kodachrome type of positive stock. The Monopack was reprinted in an optical printer separating into a three strip record, which was edited into the standard three strip O-neg.....then printing matrix were...
"I produced those Image releases (plus THE ERRAND BOY) and the transfers are definitely not full-frame. The 35mm elements that I used were hard-matted to either 1.66 or 1.85, I don't recall. That was over ten years ago!" Hi Bob---My Image PATSY LD is a full frame SE edition (did they make a...
I find most, if not all of JL's films from the early 60's look best in 1.66:1.....but that's just me. THE PATSY and THE BELBOY Image laserdisc were both full-frame 1.33.1 (as well as Paramount's LD of THE LADIES MAN and NUTTY). JW
I would've liked to have the flat version of BRIGADOON as well.....Anyhow, the outtake musical numbers for BRIGADOON were on the Gene Kelly laserdisc box set, and are fun to have....let's hope a 2:55:1 It's Always Fair Weather is not too far down the road from Turner/WB---that too has some great...
The LOVING YOU DVD looks good....yet the color on NBC’s 35mm TV dye transfer print (which Jeff ran last year at his Tech fest in LA) was much better (duh!). “Teddy Bear” leaps from the screen in 35-tech, but on the DVD it kind of lays there. That aside, the DVD is best I’ve ever seen this flm on...
Sure, SITR looks sharp, crisp, and stunning in this new digital "restoration", but it's far from a film-like presentation to my eye . Yet, for the money, and the lack of an original neg, WB did an OK job bring this film to DVD.....but it's not as great as the WB P.R. machine claims! JW
I feel Warner’s should revisit “Singin’ In The Rain” --and not use the "Ultra-Resolution" process this time around.... since much of the Technicolor warmth is missing from the new digital “restoration”. JW

It looks to be the same transfer on the replacment discs---same cropping issue on the left and top----take a look at the "Brush Up Your Shakespeare" number--in the feature, Keenan Wynn's left hand is just on the edge of the frame, but if you look at the trailer, with the same take, he has a good...
