OK I have my HD dvd player connected to my TV via HDMI. I just got a new cable box that has an HDMI output. Can I connect both the player and cable box to the TV using an HDMI splitter? Will I be able to see both at the same time?

I'm going to jump in. If I get an HDA2, can I connect the player to the TV with HDMI and for the sound I can go optical to the receiver? Or if the analog if really needed?

I just disconnected the audio cable from the laptop and connected it to an ipod and the noise went away. So I guess the sound is coming from the laptop.

That's why I was asking because I'm just plugging in the cable and press input on the remote untill it says "video" on the screen but the screen goes to unusable signal. The only options that my TV has are the video and front.
