Actually, I seem to be the one remembering the important thing here - if two shows we KNOW aren't coming back to DVD have these pages, that means that KL having one of these pages means NOTHING.
Of course, they also have identical pages up for Night Court S2 and Murphy Brown S2, and it's pretty much a given we're not seeing those any time soon, I think.
After more than a few mainstream journalists, and pretty much the entire online reviewing community, pointed out the music replacements: Set is currently 19th in DVD on Amazon, and I can barely find the set at ALL on shelves here in town (It started out being stocked at pretty much every DVD...
It's possible this error was confined to a specific pressing run of the discs - that would certainly explain how some peoples episodes have the bars, and at least one person's doesn't. Problems with one pressing run but not another are far from unheard of - the entire 2nd pressing run of the...
Third week of release and the set's still in the top 10 of ALL DVDs on Amazon. That's a VERY good sign, and if that performance is indicative of other retailers...I can't say anything definite, but it certainly appears the show may be selling well enough.
For whatever reason, Lions Gate has pretty much decided it's only worth their while to put out one set a year. Each of the last three years a set has been released late-summer of that year, and then the next one doesn't come out until the next year. In other words, it'll be awhile.
....One weakness the set has going for it is that the current show is quite weak at the moment - there are no real "stars" of the show, and the humor on the show is sporadic at best, causing viewership and interest to be lower. The SRP also hurts the show, as I know a lot of people consider $50...
I'm floored. Simply floored. This is a set I've ALWAYS wanted to own, but NEVER thought I'd see. At best I thought maybe hacked up episodes with the sketches but no music. But unedited SNL Season 1....holy cow.
Nice. Seems like you're right up to the point to watch Best of Both Worlds, if you ask me. Riker and Troi don't get married until Star Trek: Nemesis (the most recent movie).
Sales figures for season 1 weren't too horribly bad, but from what I've come to understand (someone feel free to jump in if I'm mistaken), there are decent music clearance issues that Paramount would have to resolve (at least, I believe it was Happy Days). And they certainly don't want to...
For what it's worth though, NCIS - the show best comperable to what a JAG release might be like - was well done on the technical side, with the only real flaw being a bit of a lack of depth in the features aspect.
The majority of Paramount DVDs under the CBS label as of late have been slimcases - NCIS among them, which seems relevant. As for this:
Must not have seen Wings 1/2, eh? For a show that's so funny, one of the worst-presented DVD sets I've seen.
Murphy Brown S2. S1 released in Feb 2005...still no S2. The show currently being one of the shows available in Wal-Mart's back-title TV DVD display (Where they have previously released TV DVDs set up to buy) in their B&M stores should help sales volumes a bit.
Except that different studios hold the rights to NCIS/JAG and Boston Legal/Practice. (The former is Viacom/Paramount, while the latter is 20th Century FOX)
Just a random musing: When a studio says "No Plans", that means that, on the information available at that time, on that date, it was not available. It is possible (possibility not meaning this happened, of course), that the very date that they said that, the next day plans for GP season 2...
Yeah, I did the review for Sitcoms Online. Gord is right, it's anamorphic. I was having some DVD player issues when I wrote that review, and I haven't had time to ask for a correction to be made to the on-site review.
Re: the Japanese opening titles: As far as the visual aspect goes, I have to give the win to the Japanese version. Just...wow. Still like the two (1-4, 5) US themes better though...
List of Edits: Episode 3: Joel Grey: Sketch: "Muppet Newsflash" Song: "Stormy Weather", Wayne & Wanda-w/comments from Statler & Waldorf There's actually a bit added compared to the original listing I have - a small bit between Gonzo, Joel, with guest spot by a Banana. Episode 6: Jim...
I'm usually not one to not complain about a lack of chapter stops in Muppet Show S1, but really, it doesn't bother me in this set (a rare exception), I'm sure Vincent Price (Ep 19) IS Edited: Song: "You’ve Got A Friend", Vincent & The Monster is missing. Info on 3/6/8/9 forthcoming
I'm downright ashamed I missed this the first time when I was reviewing the set for Sitcoms Online: Episode 3, Joel Grey, runs about a minute shorter than 1, 2, 4, and 5 on Disc 1... ...Episode 6, Jim Nabors, RUNS 21:09 Going to Disc 2: Episode 7: 25:31 Episode 8: 23:19 Epioode 9...
I'm the one who did the review for Sitcoms Online...there's still been no word on why syndicated prints were used, particularly after all information accompanying the set went out of it's way to mention NBC airings. Personally, I think the entire practice of edited episodes is downright...
That's the thing: Can't speak for the lost viewers, but the Alias viewers stuck around for sure - Eyes had a 80-90% viewer retention rating. HOWEVER, thanks to Alias' ratings against AI being complete garbage, there was only 7.5 million viewers for Eyes to retain 80% *OF*. If ABC actually...
The show's last airing only pulled in around 6.3 Million viewers - on Wednesdays at 10PM that's anathemic. Right now, the show's scheduled to burn off it's episodes in July/August, and will probably be gone afterwards, barring a ratings jump.
