Long story short, I'm writing a paper on war films. My goal is to choose one from each of the following periods: post-WWII, post-Vietnam, and late-90's/September 11th to the current day. The point of the paper will be to analyze the film from each "era" and see how it reflects the popular and...
Schindler's List was the worst. That glue left nasty residue. Thanks, Universal.  The paper on the back of the LOTR and M&C sets came off real easily.
That beats me. I bought if for $15, and its been sitting on my shelf since Thursday. :D You all will be very impressed by the packaging. It easily rivals the LOTR EE sets. Way to go Fox!
Kinda lame to respond to my own post, but the DVD has just been announced. From thedigitalbits.com:
Though I like that SRP, hopefully that doesn't mean its a bare-bones.
.
Let's not forget the retailers. What happened to the days when pretty much every single-disc DVD could be found for $15 during release week? Now that never happens. BB might do $16 as a loss leader, but often its $20. 2-disc SE regularly go for $22+, or even more now that the studio's are...
No, like they did with Citizen Kane, Casablanca, Once Flew Over the Cuchoos Nest, Around the World in Eighty Days, etc. See this thread: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htfo...=&pagenumber=1
You guys are weird. I would welcome with open arms lower prices on DVDs. Why say that you are content with paying $20 if the price could be $15?! Is this what you all say at the car dealership... "Ya know, whatever is on the window sticker seems fine with me. No need to lower the price...
I wish Warner had this title, if so I think we can all agree that a nice 2-disc SE (Nils' specialty ;) )would have appeared at some point. Universal continues to prove they're run by a bunch of monkeys.
All that guy Paul would have to do to get ultra-high resolution is download some covers posted at dvdcoverart.com. Whether totally original or just using poster art the resolution of just the front of the cover is 2175 x 1534. Here are a couple examples. Remember, this is just a preview, the...
I wish that DVD enthusiasts could band together and let the studio know this kind of re-releasing is ridiculous. Don't double-dip! Everytime you do so you encourage Columbia (and the rest) to continue this bad practice.
Even if its fine by you that there are no extras (not even a trailer), why did you give the Special Features section 4 stars? That doesn't seem to make any sense. I have no intentions of buying this movie, but its still disappointing of Columbia to release a DVD with such shoddy picture quality.
Mr. Harris - its an honor to have you reply in my thread. I read with great enjoyment your articles over at thedigitalbits.com and of course appreciate all your restoration work. I did find a smaller art house theater that shows classics on the big screen, but its about 45 minutes away from me...
I know for some of you it would be no big deal, but today my first Criterion Collection - Rashomon - came in the mail. It becomes the 50th DVD in my small collection. Considering a very limited budget, and that, besides birthday and Christmas gifts, I've only been buying DVDs for less than a...
David - the reason you have to scroll is because there's any extra ad at the top of the page. DVDProfiler uses Google ads, which aren't that bad compared to other bright and animated ads used by some sites. Unfortunately for those of us running 1024x768 that extra ad forces the window on the...
Is the list posted online somewhere? Their website doesn't seem to do anything but let you subscribe. If not, feel free to reply and type up the Top100 list. :D
