I'm glad to see that there are so many Tool fans here:emoji_thumbsup: And, JoshEE, their cover of No Quarter is among my favorite Tool songs (as is Sober).:)
I guess I could take a trip down to Guitar Center or Sears (both dealers) and take a look at some Cerwin Vegas, although I doubt that they would be right for me. Too powerful:b EDIT: How do you like the Polk's BTW?
I think that Polks are pretty much out. Right now I'm looking at JBL and while I'm at it, Athena. I'll see if I can't visit BB this weekend and hear both.:)
Axioms for rock? I did look at the M60s but from what I read, they were not especially suited for rock. I did an informal audition of the Polk R50s at Circuit City tonight. I can't say I was exactly impressed by them. They were flat and dry sounding, although very clear. They lacked any real...
Hey, Heath, thanks for that reply. To answer your question these speakers will be used for rock sessions probably 95% of the time. I currently only have the Lord of the Rings in my DVD collection, so I won't be watching too many DVDs:D Luke, I am only looking for a stereo set-up at the...
Are there any tower speakers out there that are especially good when listening to rock and roll? Do their characteristics compliment rock music? I have looked at a variety of speakers and to say the least, I am confused. There are so many brands to look at and so much research to be done. So I...
Thanx for that input, Nate! I don't know why a small room would have any effect on speakers either but I have read that a small room makes speakers sound "boomy".
So what effect does room size have on your speakers? If you have a smaller room will they sound worse? Right now I'm in high school and am confined to a small bedroom measuring about 10' x 10' x 8'. So what effect would this have on the way my speakers sound? Would there be any type of speakers...
I was looking at the H/K AVR 525's manual and it seems that the coaxial digital and optical digital ins both accept s/p-dif output from computer sound cards. Odd. So I suppose I would connect the sound card to the reciever's coaxial digital in using my s/p-dif out, and then use normal analog...
Hi everybody, At the moment I'm looking at my options for true HiFi speakers for my computer, as I am just not satisfied with MM speakers (big fan of music, but I am only 15 so I don't have much experience with higher quality speakers so bear with me). Basically, I am going to get either a...
I'm thinking of getting the AVR 225 receiver. I have heard that lower end HK receivers lack adjustible crossover frequencies. Is this true? If so, is there any comparable receiver in te same price range? TIA
Geez, that band is super-annoying. Total joke. Right now, the best new aussie/brit band is easily Jecht.
BWAHAHAHA! No way. Radiohead is held in very high regard. You can't get to the same level as Radiohead with 1 silly song. All of Radiohead's music is art. True inovation. Very unique...
Ok, don't suggest cards when you have no idea what they do. Those cards will not be able to run ANY game decently. They are intended for 3D applications like 3DS Max and Lightwave (which I own and use BTW). I REPEAT, THE 9800 PRO WILL BEAT THOSE CARDS TO THE GROUND IN ANY GAME!
Ok guys, I checked both the H/K and Yamaha website and came up with four retailers that look ok. -vanns -crutchfield -jandr -HarmonAudio for Harmon Kardon The 1400 is pretty highly priced at jandr, so that is pretty much out. Basically, right now I am considering these receivers...
Get the 9800XT and a seperate Winfast TV tuner (PCI). If you get an AIW, when it comes time to upgrade your TV Tuner will get dumped with your card:frowning:
I was looking around for a reciever, and found a Yamaha RX-V1400 at camerasandelectronics.com for a nice price. Has anybody here dealt with these guys? I checked their reseller rating and it only has 2 reviews, though both are very positive. TIA:emoji_thumbsup:
I like the Lian-Li PC6x series mid-towers. The PC-65, which comes with a side panel window is only $120. Very reliable and well made, with a motherboard tray and brushed aluminum exterior. I'll be getting one pretty soon. They can be found at excaiberpc.com and xoxide.com. Yuo can't go wrong...
