Adcom amps - Bright, neutral or warm

I have an Adcom GFA 5500 and a Rotel 1075. The Adcom has a much “warmer” sound compared to the Rotel. Of course the 1075 is a low end model and I could not comment if the sound of the 1075 compares to other Rotel amps.

Thanks for the replies. I used their DVD which is an older non progressive Samsung. But I also tried my Panasonic F85 (progressive) both using component. This set does have the Faroudja chip. Someone from Tweeter is coming out tonight to set it up. I’m not sure what they will do but I...

I listened to the pair of4k Sonus Fabers at tweeter and at best I was unimpressed. Maybe the salespeople at tweeter have no ideal how to set these speakers up properly? There was no highs, no lows…….

    Replacemet for Boston VR950s

Thanks Tom. They were infact Ninkas. I did not want to shell out that much but after listening to some B&Ws at lunch to day, I had to move to the $2,000 plus room before I heard any thing close to Linns. So $2,000 might be a more reasonable expectation for a budget. BTW is there any...

    Replacemet for Boston VR950s

After many upgrades over the past few months I have become very disappointed with my current main speakers for two channel music. I currently have a pair of Boston VR950s which does not present a detailed soundstage and imaging as I have been hearing as I have been auditioning other components...

    Rush and covers?

Yes-Bought it yesterday. I thought it might be a bit of an embarrassment but it is really quite good, very good. The Who covers are good and Crossroads is worth the price of the EP alone. And no, there are no bombastic drum fills in "for what its worth".

Help with replaceing an older Yamaha receiver with separates

Thanks for the responses. Maybe the receiver/ SVS sub will give me the most noticeable performance gain for my dollar. I do have a question on the Yamaha receivers. What is the difference between the HTR and RXV lines. Both seem to offer models in the same price ranges, features and power...

Pocupine Tree - In Absentia DVD-A

I will by the CD for the car also. I took this disc down to an audio store by where I work and the salesperson and a guy I work with were both impressed with. Three of us spent an hour fighting over the listening chair in the store’s reference listening room

Panasonic DVD-F85/87? Video quality? Chroma Bug? ..using interlaced output.

Gary, I understand that the F85 is supposed to play CD ‘s. I just stating that this was one of the many problems I have had with my unit. I did not know that it was the norm for muti use players to take so long to read a disk. Compared to the player that it replaced (an older Sony) the F85...

The younger generation...is there any hope

I keep reading in is thread how kids are not exposed to “good” music (good seems to equal 60’s and 70’s rock). That is not the case in my area. There are at least 6 Classic Rock stations playing the same 107 songs over and over and over …………… and over again. Please can some one make this classic...

Advice Needed On Sub $200 Receiver

Has technology come far enough that a sub $200 Dolby Digital receiver could out perform a mid line 10 year old Yamaha Pro-logic receiver? I am trying to help a friend with weather there would be a large enough gain with a DD receiver to out way the loss in performance in other areas. If so...

Thanks Leigh-I do love my VRs. I have been driving a friend of mine at work (He used to be a in the Hifi/HT biz) crazy lately with the lack of value in CC speakers. Not only is the CRC not in the same league as the VR’s but they are also being powered buy a very inferior amp so I should...
