Another non content question... I sent in the 4.95$ for Canadian shipping, but now I'm wondering if they perhaps wanted it in US funds. Could it possibly cost more for the foreign shipping, or is that the exchange rate? I don't want to wait a month to find out. Any thoughts...
I purchased the Toshiba HDMI player last December and had countless problems with it. Brand new DVDs wouldnt load or would crash at the layer change and/or menu loop. Very annoying for a DVD reviewer. I finally got so fed up that I called Toshiba and let em have it. They agreed to ship me...
When is the new, re-mastered PLAYTIME coming out!!! On another note - cool releases, didn't think Jules and Jim was so close on the horizon. The Sword of Doom looks like definite blind-buy material... flippin' cool cover art!
What can I say, I have large shelves. The tins looked really nice side by side and in alphabetical order. The ribbons seemed to have been made for this purpose, no? Now they look inconsistent - plus I already paid a lot for a couple of out of print tins so i'd have the whole collection on one...
The packaging is unfortunately terrible this time around - I can't even read the titles when I put them up on my shelf next to the others, as there is no ribbon around the tin anymore. And... what the hell is with the back cover, is that glue actually supposed work. Great content, but man...
The Cassavetes boxed-set is really cool looking and is loaded with extras as well as amazing restorations, not to mention some alternate edits. Although i'm not sold on the cardboard packaging a la Antoin Doinel boxed-set; it seems a little bit fragile. Oh well, small potataz. Good job...
Having the choice to watch the show with or without beeps would be key. Either way, i'm sold. They'll probably go with the beeps, as they create comedic moments in and of themselves - also, it might be more tasteful.
By Brakhage: An Anthology (The Criterion Collection) Runners Up: The Bridge over the River Kwai – Two-Disc Limited Edition, Brazil – (The Criterion Collection) and Bob Le Flambeur – (The Criterion Collection)
Just recieved my copy yesterday in the mail, can't wait to see the the original silent version of this film. Also, the transfers are sure to be stunning, even for the silent. Hope they (Criterion)start releasing more films from Japan and a re-release of Good Morning would be pretty cool too (the...
Standard edition is rated. Director's Cut is unrated (bloodier/longer) and the special edition contains the director's cut and an extra disc of features.
The films are spectacular, especially The 39 Steps and Notorious IMO. The transfers are amazing, as are the commentaries. The films are all essential Hitchcock viewing. :emoji_thumbsup:
See if you can still find Criterion's "Hitchcock: Wrong Men Notorious Women", it's got three out of print titles (Rebecca, Spellbound, Notorious) plus The 39 Steps and The Lady Vanishes. The boxed set is also out of print, but this recently occured, therefore you should all look hard for it...
