I was just able to pick up a pair of the Energy Take 2 Satellite speakers (black high gloss finish) for next to nothing from a local audio shop's going out of biz sale. I'm going to set them up as right and left surrounds in a budget setup that will soon have upgraded fronts and center channels...

DO NOT break the bank buying cables. Acoustic Research is reasonably priced, as are Home Depot.

Make it as short as possible. That said, no matter how long it is (within reason,) You won't notice too much of a difference.

If you are able to use DVI, you should do so...if not then Components are a good choice.

It's most definitely a CC issue. Turn CC off and you'll be fine. That system is good to start with but before you know it you'l have the upgrade bug.

Sorry, you already said it's only on HBO. I guess I'm a bit stumped and will defer to the real experts.

Seems like if it's just happening on specific channels then it may be a problem with the way your DVR is handling the specific audio format that channel uses. You should try movies from other channels and see if you have the same trouble. That will narrow things down a bit.

My opinion is that bare wire works very well but if you'l be plugging/unplugging your speakers often, bannana plugs make it much easier.

I concur. Although there will always be degradation of the signal when running distances, there's no way you'll notice it.

For the money, I think that you can do better than the Sony's. Check out separate components...Energy Take 5 speakers and perhaps a decent middle-range Onkyo or Panasonic receiver.
