Found a Sony str-d990 at the curb (yes there is probably a reason why it was at the curb!!) It looked in good shape and I needed an extra receiver for my back patio so I grabbed it. It powers up fine and it has levels on the display so I can see signal, however, no sound. I've tried all inputs...
OK, I feel pretty stupid....the round menu button is dorked up....have to press it at about the 4 o'clock position to select "right". The real answer is get a good universal.
After losing my remote in the sofa for a month, finally found it, but after replacing the batteries, I can do almost everything in the menus except actually change a setting. I can maneuver through the menus, but when it comes time to select an item to change, it won't select, it just moves down...
Yes, it's me again. Took it into the shop, static for 30 seconds and it cleared right up. Shop guy says I have "bad power" and I need to plug it into it's own surge protector or into the wall directly. I thought wow, the only thing I didn't check was power. Unfortunately it didn't help. After...
Anyone? I see you guys reading the forums....can someone offer a suggestion? I've been running the air for a week now, it's nice and cool in here...heat isn't the issue.
Wow, a year later to the day my problem came back. Last night while watching a movie, an hour in the sound degraded to static and weirdness. I put a fan on it and it didn't help. It's really not all that hot in the room, mid-high 70's. However it's quite humid. Could that do it? And...
After being in the shop for a month, they couldn't recreate the problem. After having it home and running it for 10 hours or so, the problem came back. Playing a cd I got static on the L R and C channels. Anyone? Help? Please?
Denon AVR-1804, Sony DVP-NC600, It seems that the digital signal (from either coax or optical cable) has turned into a staticy, garbled, tinny mess. I did the normal troubleshooting, replaced the cable, reassigned inputs and outputs, swapped out the dvd player, reset the microprocessor...
I have Alpha B's up front, clr center, intro's rear and a sub zero. My receiver is Denon 1804, dvd/cd sony dvp-nc600. I like it alot. Then again, the Onkyo receiver and JVC speakers I bought 20 years ago with my freshman student loan was starting to get a little weary so anything would sound...
tim, thanks, there's a button on the front that is labled "surround" it has 4 settings, as soon as I turned it off....it worked! I don't think I've ever even touched it in the year I've had the player....next components I buy will have silver face instead of black, I need to keep a flashlight...
My first post, please be gentle. I need some similar advice. I have a Sony DVP-NC600 cd/dvd player and a Denon 1804 AV receiver. When I use a 1/2 meter Tributaries Delta video cable from the digital out of the dvd player to the digital in on the receiver, I can hear sound when playing dvd...
