After a week with the Pioneer Elite VSX-32 I've had a chance to play around with the settings. Ran the auto setup with MCACC and changed some of the settings it came up with. It had all speakers to large and I changed those to small. I changed the channel levels also. I came up with...
I'm leaving the settings that MCACC came up with with the exception of the speakers being on large, I changed those to small. It sounds really good. Does it matter what the volume is set at when MCACC is running the test?
The bottom right is a Panamax power conditioner. I'm going to use the SPL meter to compare. Leaving all speakers set to large doesn't seem right. Even the installer said I should set the fronts to large. The auto setup was more thorough than the one in my Denon.
You were right about the MCACC Gene. It set all the speakers to large. The distances were pretty close and the channel levels as follows. FL (-1.5dB), C (-2.5dB), FR (-2.0), SL (-1.5dB), SR (-3.0dB), SBL (-2.5dB), SBR (-3.0dB), SUB (-7.5dB). Crossover was set at 80
Thanks for the reply. I have the Denon AVR-2805 and that also has a mic. I found it to be accurate with the distance and volume. I do have a SPL meter and tripod which I used after to double check the settings. I have the Sound & Vision Tune Up DVD which I also use for calibrating the audio...
Tomorrow begins a new era as its out with the old and in with the new. Out is the Mitsubishi 48" RPTV HDTV and Denon AVR-2805 receiver. In is a Panasonic Plasma TC-P65S2 and Pioneer Elite VSX-32 receiver. Looking through the manual for the receiver is a little overwhelming. There is a ton of...
I recently upgraded from the Polk Audio R series. My front speakers RTi8's and center CSi5 have 2 sets of binging posts. Does it matter which ones I use? Right now I am using the pair on the bottom. Just curious.
I recently upgraded my system from the Polk Audio R series to the RTi series. It now consists of fronts: RTi8, center: CSi5, surrounds: FXi5, and a new sub: Velodyne DLS3750R. I'm using a Denon AVR-2805 to run them. It's night and day compared to what I had. I used the Radio Shack SPL meter to...
Thanks for the reply Bob. I was just wondering what it means when I read people say I watch movie whatever it may be 10 to 15 clicks above reference level. The other thing that I was wondering was the volume setting that I used for the test was -10db so it doesn't matter if I listen to something...
Yesterday I recalibrated my home theater because I bought a tripod to put my spl meter on. Need some clarification on what my reference level is. I used the Sound and Vision Home Theater Tune Up DVD. SPL meter was set at 70db and used the front left test tone to set the volume on the receiver...
