DVD Review HTF REVIEW: The Doris Day Collection Volume 2

Hey Simon! A fellow South Aussie!!!! I work at Kmart and got quite excited at all the Warner DVDs coming through for an early "Mother's Day" promotion - and was so tempted to buy the three DD films (By The Light; Lucky Me & On Moonlight Bay) and just get the rest in R1 - but when I saw the...

    Warner's 200 new classic films for 2007

I don't think that one number Judy & Mickey did in "Words And Music" would qualify for it being released in this set - I assume that Warners might want to save WAM for maybe a Composer's Collection...but it would be nice if they included "Thoroughbreds Don't Cry" - even as a Special Feature like...

DORIS DAY: VOLUME 2 on 4/10

Just wondering does anyone know if "Young At Heart" is controlled in anyway by Warners? Because the current R1 Republic Pictures/Artisan issue isn't very good - cropped to full screen etc etc - I see that Universal released it in R2 - does anyone know if that is superior to the R1 version? I...

Only 5 Judy Garland titles left!!!

I just posted this on another forum - this would be my 2 cents on how Warner's should release the last Judy films: I see that Warner's is releasing a second "Doris Day Collection" in April - hopefully they might do a follow up to the first Judy boxset too? Maybe include the already...

Warners 'Motion Picture Masterpieces' Five-disc set October

I don't suppose the "Romance Of Celluloid" on the Marie Antoinette is this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0304162/ I have been wanting to see "Hollywood Goes To Town" for a while now - would be a nice inclusion on the disc - also I believe a radio broadcast from the premiere was recorded too...

does anyone else hate the wizard of oz?

Judy Garland was actually 16 when she played Dorothy who in the movie remains ageless - but is hinted in the pre-production to be a 12 year old Kansas girl - not a far cry for Judy who would continue to play roles her Junior (especially her Role as Betsy Booth in several of the Andy Hardy films)...

    BATMAN (1989) & sequels (STREET DATE: Oct. 18, 2005)

Ok - so no one remembers the "syringe scene"?! I was so sure I saw it - I guess the original Australian Theatrical Cut isn't different to the U.S.?! Either way I was still upset that they didn't include it on the DVD!!

    BATMAN (1989) & sequels (STREET DATE: Oct. 18, 2005)

Was anyone else dissapointed with the lack of deleted scenes on these DVDs?? I know the first thing I did when I bought the set was go to the deleted scenes in FOREVER, hoping to see the scene where the Riddler injects Chase with some green goo - I remember this scene from when I saw it in...

    A X-mas wish for 2003 WB.......May I please have "A Christmas Carole" 1938 version.

On the laserdisc of "A Christmas Carol" they include the Technicolor print of Judy Garland singing Silent Night for the MGM Christmas trailer - and I think this is the only place that you can get it in color comercially!! So I hope that Warner releases that with it as well!!

    New Warner multi-disc sets coming!

about the Rhino/Warner pairing I asked Judy Garland historian John Fricke about this recently on a Garland group to which he replied "Rhino and Turner/Warner are still associated. But as Rhino has the rights to release music from that film library on compact disc, the various recording...

    New Warner multi-disc sets coming!

Being a big Oz fan this would be my idea of a perfect special edition: The Film (obviously hehe) in Ultra Resolution 5.1 plus the original Mono soundtrack Instead of the "sing-a-long" version (which to me seems like a waste of time as really they could just put an alternate subtitle...

20th Century Fox's 'Studio Classics' DVD Series

Has anyone mentioned PIGSKIN PARADE being a Judy Garland fan I would LOVE to see her first feature film released on DVD - it was on the "Studio Classic" collection on VHS but never came on laserdisc - also note-worthy for an early appearace by Betty Grable also would like to see Valley Of...

    Missing Musicals

Yeah, I really liked the music to PEPE, and even bought the CD soundtrack (released by Collector's Choice) earlier this year - Shirley Jones' title song is fun, and I love Judy Garland's haunting rendition of "The Faraway Part of Town" - that's amazing that Pepe got a re-issue in a theatre!! I...

    Missing Musicals

This has been very interesting reading about the "lost" films and different soundtracks - just wondering has there been any new word (since 1983) of a complete print of "A Star is Born" (1954) being in existance?? Ron Haver's book was very fascinating to read, and although I love the re-issued...
