    Heating a Basement?

for the garage, i have that unit that frank zimkus linked. I love it. I use it for a large 3 car garage and it does the job very nicely. Its connected to its own thermostat and is connected to the house's propane. Heats up the garage in no time. My father and i installed it in an afternoon. Hot...

    selling house/hometheater

i really appreciate all of the comments. I know that i need something on the screen wall to break it up a bit. I just worry that curtains wouldn't look right. Any pics of a good screen wall with curtains would be nice to see. If we sel and get a new house i will be starting this home theater...

    selling house/hometheater

Yeah, my wife and i did everything but the drywall hanging and drywall finishing. The ceiling and carpets are actually a lot darker than they look in the tour. Must be the flash or just that he turned all the lights all the way up for the pic.

Help. Image does not align with screen

Ok, I use my sharp xga projector for watching cable television as well as with my home theater pc. Problem is: when i watch the tv, the image fits perfectly on the screen (meaning its not off center), but when i switch to the pc, the image is like 2 inches to the right. How does this happen?

    HTPC with two monitors?

i think i understand but the video overlay part confused me. I want to be able to view them both simultaneously. Basically i want the second display to always show the computer display and the projector to show what ever input is selected. If i get a dual monitor video card will that output to...

I have my HTPC display run through my reciever and to my projector. Is there a way to have the HTPC display output to two different display devices? I have seen people who have a little display in with their audio components. I would like this kind of setup too so i don't have to turn the...

Framed Posters inside or outside theater?

I'm sorry I should of asked. Do you have a projector or a RPTV? My frames are on either side of my room and with the projector I do get a noticable glare. Chris white's theater has a RPTV and i beleive his frames are behind the couch and not on the sides of the room. Hope this helps.

my theater project, pics are up...

since you brought up building inspectors i have a question: An appraiser i had that came out to my house told me that basements are not included in the square footage of a house. He said not unless the entire basement is above ground level, which most basements are not entirely above ground...

    support beam

i have beams in my basement as well. I walled a few in and the ones i couldn't put behind walls i used polewrap (polewrap.com) it looks pretty good, just wraps around the poles and makes them look like nice wood columns. They can be painted any color and are way cheaper than a structural engineer.

Speaker Placement Problems. No walls. And Wife Does not want Speaker wire showing

you'll never notice the wire. as long as there is a carpet and carpet pad under it. I ran wire for my theater under the carpet in the basement on a slab with commercial grade (really thin) carpet and you wouldn't know if you were stepping on the wires.

Framed Posters inside or outside theater?

Stargate is where i got mine from. The reason i guess that i warned of the border around them is because stargate cinema has two different size frames. the cheaper ones are the ones i got. There not really different size frames but different thickness of the borders. The cheaper one is like 1.5...

Analog connection in addition to digital?

i have a denon 2803 and i ran both sets because zone 2 will only play analog sources, so if you have everything hooked up through digital inputs than you won't be able to play any of it to a second zone. Might not matter to you though if you aren't using it to play music in a second zone.

    who's got a denon receiver?

can you change the name of the input that displays on the screen? For example if i hook my minidisc player to the TAPE input can i change the display to read MINIDISC rather than tape? Main reason for this is because i have stuff that has two inputs, one digital input for the main zone and one...

    analog and digital inputs

yeah, the thing is that its hard to remember what is what. for instance the minidisc player is called VBS for the digital in and DBS for the analog in, and the pc is DVD for the digital in and Tape for the analog in, and the Cd player is Cd for the digital and I can't even remember what I called...

    analog and digital inputs

currently i have a denon 2803 receiver. I use it for two zones and the zone 2 will only output analog signal. i got the snaplocks in my theater room right now. I like the snaplocks very much. I don't see me changing the posters often but if I wasn't able to change them then I would want to change them. Guess I just like the option. I do get a glare off of the two front pics (they are about 7-8 ft from...

Has anyone framed with Stainless Steal stud?

i used steel studs for my basement framing. much easier to use. no messsy sawdust either. like the others said, they are straight, light and easy to work with. Just remember that you can't nail any thing into them. The only problem i ran into was when i went to put the floor moldings in...
