In my JVC DVD manual it states that: When connecting to a Dolby Digital decoder select Dolby Digital/PCM When connecting to a DTS decoder select Stream/PCM As I presume my receiver has both decoders do I just leave it on DD/PCM and only change it if I have a DVD with a DTS soundtrack?

Thanks Alon, I was thinking of getting an Oppo 970 and see that it has 5:1 analog outputs so does this mean my rear speakers will be redundant, also I have noticed that the sound from a digital connection sounded better than an analog one.

My receiver has 8 channel inputs if I were to use these from a dvd player how would it compare with a digital connection. As I notice that if you do this the digital sound fields of the Rx are no longer usable why would anybody use these inputs?

I have marks on the screen and taking a look through the side panel there look like dust particles on the convex lens can I clean it and if so what would be the best way. Thanks in advance for any suggestions

The Surround Back indicator light does not come on when I have selected dolby prologic IIx and when I select Extd Sur on the remote to get 7:1 all I get is AUTO .. .. on the Receiver, does that mean that the surround back will come on automatically when there is surround back audio available?

Can a digital coaxial cable be used to connect a subwoofer?

I phoned Hitachi about the Director Series and was told that it was an older model 2004? After much study I have decided to go with the 50VG825 as it has a remote that controls HT and has a non-reflective screen. This seems to be the top of the line model of the current sets.

It is a powered sub, have used another power socket to no avail, it seems to be a talk radio station and to add insult to injury you just can't quite understand the conversation. It is noticable during quiet passages in the dialog of the program you want to hear!

Have noticed what seems like a muffled radio station coming from my sub, any ideas how I can rectify this problem?

The manual of the Yamaha YST-SW1500 states that higher sound quality will be achieved by connecting your amplifier to the subs LFE input (if your amplifier can cut off high frequencies) my question is can the Yamaha RX-V2500 or any AV Receiver do this or do you need a separate amplifier?
