thanks but it is actually quite different now - the tv is now an hd tv with different inputs and the av recevier is different as well. there is also one less component involved, but whatever.
i've been fighting setting this up all weekend. don't know much about HTS but this should be easier than i'm making it. heck there aren't even that many inputs/outputs on the back of the sony dvd/receiver. the way i have it set up now my audio from the tv plays very low through the HTS...

i got a new samsung lcd, sony bravia theater system and hd cable box. hooked em all up and the sound out of the speakers when watching tv is really really low. i have to put the volume on max to barely hear it. if i switch over to dvd or fm/am then it blows you away.

what are the different options for getting my speaker wire from my attic space to the speaker? do most people just put a another wall plate with bananna plugs terminating on both sides [attic and living space]? any other options?

I understand that different sources have different output levels but when your volume level range is 0-60 and you have it on 25 to hear a DVD or the radio comfortably but then you have to put it to the max (60 - literaly the max) to hear the tv comfortably...
