    Panasonic TH-42PWD7UY

Has anyone had any experience with this monitor? I'm wanting to use it as my video source. I'm a beginner home theater guy, but I've got my audio run and my receiver and DVD player setup, so now I'm just looking for video units. One silly question...on the specs for this monitor it states...

    Receiver Output Question

Thanks for the info! This receiver does have the Zone 2 output as BrianWoerndle said, would using that output instead of the B output be safer? Also, as long as I have the impedance correct with the speakers I'm putting in parallel matching the receiver specification, would there be any...

    Receiver Output Question

It's the Sony STR995. I assume that's what this other set of outputs is for, but the owners manual doesn't say much about them. So I just thought somebody else might have a setup like this and be able to give me some peace of mind.

    Receiver Output Question

I've got a media room with surround sound and then I've got 6 pairs of speakers in other rooms around my house. I've got impedance matching volume controls and all the wires run. I recently bought a receiver that happens to have a front A output and a front B output. There are also outputs for...

    Basic speaker connectors.

So if I changed the connector, it should work? I'm concerned that the cable used is the wrong cable. Can coax be used as speaker wire? Coax was not what was run for the other speaker runs. Is it coax because it's a subwoofer connection?

    Basic speaker connectors.

I'm building a house and had a local company wire it for sound and in 1 room there is supposed to be a connector meant for a subwoofer. All the other places for speakers have just standard wire hanging through the ceiling but for this subwoofer, they already put a plate on it and the connector...

    Where to start?

I'm building a new home. There are several things I want to do for whole house sound, but I'm a new to home theaters. I have 1 room which will be the media room, I'll have 5:1 surround sound. I'm planning to put in-wall speakers in there. Then I'll have 2 rooms and the patio which will have 2...

    Heat Question

I'm building a new house and have planned to put all my components in a certain closet. I'm still trying to decide whether to go with a component system or an HTPC. Does anyone have any experience with heat issues in a closet? Should I do something special with venting to get this to work? Do...

    In-Celing Speakers for new house

I understand what you're saying, but I like to keep my CDs in my car. Something as small as bringing them in at night just frustrates me. And at the same time, I don't really have a need to have all my DVDs in a changer. The only time I watch a movie is when friends come over anyway, I don't...

    Home Theater run by computer

Thanks for that info, I figured that I didn't have an original idea there! I'm just getting into this, so sorry for my noviceness, but what's AVS?

    Home Theater run by computer

I hope this is the right forum for this question. I am building a new house and I have designed it with a closet that will be used as a "command center" for my home theater. At first I started looking at all the components I'll need to buy: DVD/CD player, Receiver, TV, speakers... Now I'm...

    In-Celing Speakers for new house

Ok, Jeff, here's a crazy idea maybe you can shed some light on for me. I told you there is this closet where I've decided to put all components and make it a "command center". So the more and more I think about it, I don't think I need a bunch of components. I think all I need is a computer. If...

    In-Celing Speakers for new house

Jeff- I know that I'll need a volume control for each room, and I've heard that I need a switch like you mentioned, what does the combination of those 2 actually do? I've heard it levels the impedance so that the receiver isn't blown. Is that all it does? Here's another simple question. Along...

    In-Celing Speakers for new house

Thanks to both of you. I'm a novice at home theater, but since I'm building a new house, I figured now is the time to learn. Home Theater Direct looks great, thanks for that suggestion! Rick, I'll look at Polk too, thanks for that. I don't really have a choice - the wife has spoken...LOL. Thanks...

    In-Celing Speakers for new house

I've read that in-wall/in-celing speakers are not the best for a home theater, but in order to get a home theater, I had to compromise with my wife that the electronics will be seen as little as possible. My searches have showed me that I can spend from $30 to $300 a speaker. Does anyone have...
