Thanks for the good advice, guys. The damage to the tape occurred about half-way through the recording over about a 6" section of tape that got caught up in the VCR heads - was running fine and then power flickered off and on which, I guess, caused the tape to loosen up in the VCR and get...
My recently deceased relative (breast cancer victim) had made 7 VHS tapes of the last yrs of her life while traveling. I was planning on making DVD copies of these tape....but the VCR "ate" one of the tapes. I was able to extract the tape without breaking it, and rewound it (though it has...
I have a panasonic E50 DVD-R and DVD-Ram recorder. I want to record decent pic quality movies 2+ hrs long and am thinking about using two-sided DVDs (which may, at this time, be cost-prohibitive - but i am hopeful that costs will drop!). A two-sided DVD-Ram will give me about 4 hrs of standard...
I looked at both of the Monster cables you mentioned....but opted for some $20 component cables instead (can't remember the brand off top of my head - but perhaps GE??). I was very pleased with the quality, but do not know how they compare with the two more expensive Monster cable sets. If you...
i went from composite to s-video thinking pic quality would improve dramatically on my rear-proj. HDTV. It did NOT. So i went out and bought inexpensive $20 component video cables. Although expecting the worst (esp. as i could have spent closer to $100 for some component video cables), the PQ...
My stereo receiver does not have component (nor s-video) jacks either...but i simply ran my satellite receiver s-video out directly into my dvd recorder s-video in and then ran the dvd recorder component video out directy into the tv component video in. As for sound, i have the satellite...
Sorry for the belated "thanks", Bob. Your advice steered me to the correct solution - the cables WERE the problem! The composite and s-video cables were both creating poor picture quality, so i upgraded (for $20) to component video cables and the PQ was great. Thanks!
I've seen earlier posts describing screen size when using a front projector...the smaller the image the better the quality is what I have heard. Even DVDs can appear as poor image quality when blown up too big. Never tried it myself...but it makes sense. Good Luck.
Based on my limited experience, I personally wouldn't worry too much about leaving it on for extended periods on occassion.....but I would suggest turning it off during long periods when it is not going to be used. If you forget now and then, I don't think it will really hurt your receiver much...
Originally had my 42" TV hooked directly up to my DishNetwork 501PVR Receiver via S-video cable and PQ was great. Now I have the Dish Receiver S-Video hooked up to a Panasonic DVD Player/Recorder which then has an S-Video running out of it and into the TV (basically only difference from...
Thanks for the advice, Rogo. I will go out and purchase some more S video cables today. By playing around with the components and wiring, I was able to hook most everything up. The TV can play satellite programming and PVR-recorded programming from the Dish Satellite Receiver when TV is set to...
Hi all. Just received (for Christmas) a Panasonic DMR-E50 DVD Player/Recorder (records both DVD-Rs and DVD Rams) and have acquired something akin to a headache while trying to hook it up. I have been trying to add it to my present system: 1)Toshiba 40H30 Widescreen Projection TV, 2)Kenwood...
