Does anyone know what is the latest multiregion version of the 2910 firmware available? Mine is: Version: ESS 6720-2 Make Day: 725f Maybe there is a newer version around. I downloaded version 5 from Denon website, but only works for region 1 discs. Thanks, Octavio
Arthur: According to Denon, Version ESS6720-5 of firmware will install HDMI version 1.1 and make DVD-Audio menus viewable when using DVI output. This is it. Maybe it corrects other things that Denon doesn't like to report (like green push or the problem you are reporting). You can download...
Steven: can you name a few reference discs for PQ and why? Related to DVD 2910, I have to report that when playing Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" DVD Audio I don't have access to the Bonus tracks. When I press enter, to get there, it takes me back to the main menu. I know my disc...
Dave A: I tried to turn off screen display (play, pause, etc.) from the etc sub menu but I couldn't. So I figure your unit is not defective and you found a bug. Let's see what others find. Steven: I did calibrated separately using AVIA disc. I will set Velocity Modulation to OFF and see...
Steven Thanks for your answer. My display is a CRT HDTV Ready TV Sony KV-30XBR910. The manual says that DVI input supports HDCP. You can check on Sony website. Octavio
I want to go back to my original question: How digital video data, coming from a DVD through a DVI connection, gets converted into actual images in the HDTV screen? Is there some kind of DAC, or the signal never gets analog? What can cause that PQ be better under an analog (component)...
Maybe this thing was already covered, but Does somebody know where decoding of digital video data takes place, when a DVI-D connection is being used from DVD to TV? Does the TV have an internal DAC or something like that? If so, should I compare the quality of that "TV DAC" with the...
AndersLS: I upgraded to Region Free and I can watch DVD's from all zones using either DVI connection or component connection. Steven: I couldn't initialize turning off the unit first. I had to do it, as the manual says, from the stop position. Octavio
Chris: of course you can go HDMI into the TV and take Optical Audio from the DVD player to the reciever. And if you like you can go HDMI from DVD to TV, and then optical from TV to receiver. Either way audio signals go digital all the way to the receiver and are decoded there.
I’m confused. I "upgraded" my DVD player from Panasonic RP82 to Denon 2910 expecting to get a substantial improvement in PQ, specially using DVI connection. I spent $670 (tax included) on my 2910, plus $160 in a 2 meter Monster DVI-D cable. I have a Sony KV-30XBR910 TV with DVI input that...
Steven: I have had already upgraded to Region Free (before your post) but only went from steps 1 to 4 of your procedure. Why is important to initialize, that is to take the microprocessor to default settings, once you turn on the player after the upgrade? I didn't do it, and I can watch...
I got my 2910 last week. I haven´t had the time to test it, only a couple of music concert DVD's, but what I noticed out of the box was a much better sound quality. On the other hand, PQ has not impressed me very much, and I'm using a DVI connection set to 1080i. My TV is Sony widescreen...
I'm planning to upgrade my DVD player and I'm considering new Denon models DVD 1910 or DVD 2910 (will come out in September) and I have a couple of questions. DVD 1910 manual is on Denon website, DVD 2910 manual can also be found in Denon website, but there is not a link to get it, so this is...
Bill: I faced exactly the same problem and I decided not to take the risk that my new AVR-3805 would get overheated. I replaced my Jamo 7.7 front speakers (4 ohms) with Klipsch Reference RF-35 (8 ohms). Jamo 7.7 are prettier and have tighter bass. Klipsch have better sensitivity, much...
Thanks GregoriusM Altavista Babel Fish Translator is amazing. Now I can read all of those japanese sites where there is information about stuff coming out in the near future. Octavio
Folks: For those of you that can read Japanese, there is plenty of information of new Denon DVD models 3910,2910 and 1910 at Denon japan website http://denon.jp/company/release/dvdx910.html ¿Does someone knows the difference between current models 2200 and 2900? Does it worth to pay...
John: I think the replace is 2910. Question is: what they would release to replace 2200 model? I've been waiting to see if Denon release a replace for 2200 that includes Denon Link to match it with my AVR 3805. Octavio
Folks: I just read Denon Pre-CEDIA Press Conference at the following website: http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/main.html They say Flagship Receiver AVR-5805 will be out in October and will feature 10.3 channel (10 amplifiers). I couldn´t believe it. Read it for yourself, and tell me I'm not...
I didn´t notice much difference (between PLIIx and DD Ex)when I watched Star Wars Episode II. With other movies, there could be noticeable differences, or not, but a case by case test should be made. Octavio
Chris: Assuming you are using two surround back speakers and you set your Receiver accordingly, then: 1. If you select PLIIx Cinema for DD EX movies you should notice different sounds from surround back left than surround back right speakers, which in turn are different than the sounds...
I have Denon AVR-3805 matched with Klipsch Reference Speakers RF-35 (two), RC-35 and RS-35 (three) plus a Paradigm PW-2200 Subwoofer. Combination sounds really well, although bass is over emphasized when listening to music CDs in direct mode (2 channel).
What speakers would sound better...
Respect to my comment above where I regretted that with Denon AVR 3805 I couldn't use PLIIx Cinema to decode regular DD 5.1 movies I should have been more precise. I can´t use PLIIx Cinema because I set the system to work with a 6.1 speaker configuration. If I had a 7.1 speaker configuration...
Roger, Alan: Thanks for your help. After your last posts my mind is clear about this issue, and as you said, I'm now an expert in Denon Menus and have something pushing me to buy one more surround speaker. Thanks again. Octavio
I have a 6.1 speaker configuration (only one surround back speaker) and a Denon AVR 3805 Receiver which can decode PLIIx and Dolby Digital EX. Is PLIIx the same as DD Ex under a 6.1 speaker configuration ? In other words, for a 6.1 speaker system, which is the optimum decoder to use (PLIIx...
