I have boxes on three of my TVs (two Tivo DVRs). When I added the second Tivo to my big-screen, I had the exact same problem. I talked with customer service and after quite a while, we got it to "take" on a decent signal. When I unplugged the box a week later, I had the same problem when I...
Hey Chuck: I know it's not what you asked, but you can still buy Entras on ebay (from Harmon) at pretty good prices. Not quite as much fun but something you still might want to consider. Mark Good luck!
I have the 3803 and can try to help. If Chris' latest suggestion doesn't work, I'd go back and read his first post. Are you sure that in setup you have the speakers set to LARGE?
Tom: I will be taking my 3803 in on Monday and will let you know what the repair guy says. I assume you have tried the reinitialization. If not, definitely give that a try. Usually, you hold two buttons down while plugging the unit in.....check the manual. Mark
Thanks all. I actually disconnected everything from the unit and tried it....no luck. I tried the re-initialization and that didn't work. Today I spoke with Denon and they've recommended bringing it in....damn. Thanks for all the thoughts.... Mark
Sam: Thanks. I was hoping you were onto something. I unplugged everything this morning and the receiver is still cutting-out. I tried the re-initializiation procedure and, while it worked, the receiver still will not power-up properly. Anybody else have any ideas? Or, anyone have...
I moved the carpet in the living room this morning. I moved the surrounds across the room to clean the floor. I never disconnected any connections. When I put everything back together, my receiver (Denon 3803 - 3 months old) seemed to hickup. When I turn on the power, it begins to power-up...
Set the input mode to auto (it will say so on your display). When you input your DVD and play, the display will change accordingly. Also, -10 seems about the same as mine. "Immersive" is somewhat relative but at that setting, in my large room, that will play a movie at a good volume. You...
Chun: I've had the same issue with computer equipment (ie. Dell refurbed CPU). However, I've had nothing but good luck with refurbed audio equipment. I plan to continue buying if it saves me a respectable amount of money. I suppose the "risk" vs. reward for me would be about a 20% savings...
Link lifted from a thread in Audioholics.com I read most of these points debated herein. Would be curious to hear reaction/s and rebuttals. He refutes bi-wiring, cables, speaker burn-in advantages, etc. Interesting read. http://bruce.coppola.name/audio/TenAudioLies.pdf
Michael: Not sure you'd consider Infinity, but if you listen to them and like 'em, check out eBay. Harman has an eBay store and you can get a lot of bang for your buck. Typically, Entra 2 floors go for about $160/180 a pair, IL50s can be had for less than $400. Add a center for another $100...
Kenny M: I'm very curious to hear what you try and of your findings. I currently have my Infinity IL50s bi-wired (out of my Denon 3803). I've only tried them that way (not jumpered). Once/if you use the B channel, let me know how and if it works and what you think. Did it disable the...
You can get the Denon 3803 for under $700 delivered. They've been running a deal at 6ave.com. Search the boards if you're interested, you'll see the details. Lot of folks on here, including me, have gone this route. Good luck! Sorry for the repeat, Andrew and I must have been typing at the...
Fellow Newbie: I've been at this for a month or two now and have received incredible support from the folks here at the forum. I installed my new Denon 3803 around xmas time. Let me know specifics and I'll try to help you out. Sean has already given you good advice on getting your monitor...
John and Brian: You've helped alot. I think I stay with the Infinity line, see what the best center match was and probably go that way. A four foot IL-40 on top of the big screen probably isn't going to work...... You've got me headed down the right path....thanks.
Thanks guys....I'm trying. Sorry about the open-ended post. What I'm trying to do is find a decent center to go with my Infinity IL-40s and my Infinity IL-120S sub and Denon 3803 receiver. I have an Infinity Entra Center Two (center) and I just think I'm unhappy with it. So, in addition to...
I am still feeling my way, trying to understand the basics....go easy on me ;) Can someone explain the concept to me, in terms that my simple mind can comprehend? For example, my main speaker's specs read: Crossover frequency: 600Hz, 2500Hz; 24dB/octave The center (which I am looking...
Vince: Interesting as I have considered the same thing. It appears that Verizon offers phone service (unlimited long distance, voice mail, conf. calling, etc.) plus DSL for about $89 a month. My cable modem service (through Comcast) alone costs about $50 a month. I just switched long...
Ok, it seems that the SVS is the consensus pick. If everyone who has helped could each send me $100, I'll have that critter ordered this evening. Anyone have any experience or input on the Aperion products? SPECIFICATIONS - Intimus S-12 Dimensions 20.5" H x 15" W x 21.5" D Weight 66...
I ordered my 3803 from 6ave just before xmas and received just after....it was definitely new in the box and is driving my HT beautifully. Good luck- Mark
Help! Here's the current breakdown: Velodyne CHT-15 - 15" subwoofer Frequency Response: 23-120 Hz +-3 dB High Pass Crossover (6 dB/octave slope): 80Hz or 100Hz Low Pass Crossover (12 dB octave, 24 dB ultimate): 40Hz-120Hz (adjustable) Auto On/Off Dynamic Power: 750 watts RMS Power: 300...
Robb/Minesh/John: I have counted on help from folks like you on this site. That's why I have found it to be so valuable. You've given me plenty to go on. I'll get busy doing some more research and see what's what. If/when I decide I'll definitely let you know. Again, thanks. Mark
Philip: I'll check it out. Ordered DVE on 12/24 and still waiting for delivery (apparently back-ordered) with my Radio Shack Sound Level Meter locked and loaded....thanks. Robb Roy: Room is fairly large (24 X 16). Unfortunately, yes large opening to foyer and large entrance to dining...
So I've built most of my first HT. Here's what I've got so far: Denon 3803 Receiver Infinity IL-40s floors front Infinity Center Channel Speaker Infinity Alpha 2 floors surround and rear I have an old, cheap Sony sub that is not pulling it's weight. Without spending a fortune, can ya'll...
Chris: Thanks, you've confirmed just about what I thought. I adjust the convergence on my RPTV periodically. It is done via the setup menu and you use 9 screen "locations" and "converge" red and blue separately onto the white cross-hatch. It sharpens things up nicely. I guess I'll just wait...
Rick/All: Nice job....I will most probably try that. Here's the response I received from Kenwood today: "Thank you for writing to us at Kenwood USA Corporation. In regards to your recent inquiry, based on the symptoms you've stated, it seems that the remote control or the IR sensor on...
ChrisWiggles: While you're helping us Newb's, I have a question for ya. I get my calibration disk tomorrow. I have my sound meter at the ready and I'm anxious to "tune-up" my HT. While researching, I learned that I can enter the service menu and another menu on my rear-screen projection...
