Hi Sam I have the same problem with Ra (I use toslink though), it kicks my onkyo 602 into DPLII (and in this mode is sounds terrible), but when I switch it over to DD is sounds wonderful. I suspect it's because I am running a 6.1 instead of a 7.1 system. I think you've nailed it. :) Rogo
After watching many movies and listening to my old music disks I now block one port with the 16hz tune, it seems to be the best compromise for my room. Rogo
Rick only charged me $25 per midrange opus speaker, and I installed it yesterday! The old SD 300ti just didn't compare. For all of you wharfedale owners IAG america is a wonderful service. Rogo
Opus1 mains=$2000 Opus1 Tri-center=$600 SVS ISD/nsd v=$550 sound-dynamics rears/rearcenter=$250 This is a 6.1 system. $1000 is not alot of money to spend on decent speakers. Goodluck! :D Rogo
I bought the 40gig and had a spare 80gig sata 2.5" harddrive laying around so I now have an 80gig PS3 that makes all my regular dvds look incredible! I was never into console games but playing assasin's creed on the ht is amazing! Rogo
I finally had a chance to call today and Rick at wharfedale US is sending me two midrange drivers and an 8" bass driver. The cost was $40 for the midrange driver (x2) and $45 for the bass driver. I'm very pleased! Rogo
It wasn't the PS3-it was user error. I apologize for not placing that in the post. The optical1 input was set for 'last know valid' and it was defaulting to stereo rather than surround. Rogo
Man I have it setup correctly, I think it's a problem with this receiver. Thanks all of you (I'll be getting that 705 in a month or so Craig :D) for your replies and help! Rogo
Thanks Craig for the feedback. I do have it set to output bitstream. I'm in the process of saving some money for a Onkyo 705 (I've a 601 now). I honestly don't know why toslink sounds so crappy compared to coax digital (on this receiver). Thanks! Rogo
I hooked it up last week and I've not been able to figure out why it sounds compressed when I compare it to my old DVD player using coaxdigital out. Any thoughts? Thanks Rogo
I've pulled it out of the cabinet and it looks fine, it just buzzes badly with certain frequencies. Does anyone have experience with replacing a wharfedale speaker? Rogo
Well, I've not owned a console since the original Nintendo :). I preordered a xbox 360 for our game center, but within 3 hours it had the red ring of death and I sent it back without bothering to order another one. I'd probably buy another 360 just for me if I was really into console...
I just ordered the 40gb model from newegg. I have a Fujitsu 120gb sata laptop drive sitting here waiting! :) I've a decent setup so I'm looking forward to hooking it up, playing some Assasains Creed, watching some BD movies, and just generally upgrading my DVD player! Cool thread Averry...
Lee What do you conjecture will be the cost of a an updated PB12-NSDV? I'm amazed at the performance of this subwoofer! and hope that SVS starts to produce this model again. :) Rogo
I've been experimenting since sunday and I've found that the best setup for my PB12-nsd/V is one port blocked (with the 16hz tune), my onkyo set to 100hz for LFE and gain turned up about 1/8th. Rogo
I did some research before I bought it and I figured it was worth at least $700 with the new driver. I just installed it :) It's breathtaking. It is like new and works perfectly-the best $499 I've spent in quite a while ;) THanks Robert and John for the feedack. Rogo
