There's quite a number of differences... the biggest off the top of my head is that any of the monitor line with more than 1 woofer gets a 2.5 way crossover instead of a 2 way. They also get a carbon infused black woofer for bass instead of 2 of the transparent type you have. They also suggest...
There are tons of brands out there that off "in-wall" type speakers. Just google for them. Now, I didn't seem to come across any bipolar/dipolar type in-walls if that is what your looking for. But if you don't mind normal speakers, I would first look to see if the company your other fronts are...
John is spot on here. It depends on the size of your room and the effenciency of your speaker. I have the slightly more powerful 701 and it drives my Paradigm Monitors fine for my 19 by 12 room. Honestly, as long as your room isnt huge and you aren't driving fronts expected to give out lots...
I'm curious too as I couldn't find any direct comparisons. I know the Adire is a sealed design with a 250 watt amp and a larger 12" driver. The SVS does have the hybrid class AB and class D amp however, and it makes me wonder if thats more efficient than the Adire's (not sure what type of amp it...
In that price range, you might wanna check out the speaker and "ultra high end" forum on AVS. They have guys over ther more experienced than most of us (myself included!) who play in a less expensive arena.
Absoluately fantastic review! The ONLY wish i have is the Adire Rava would be included. Its $400 plus shipping and Internet only so its a direct competitor. I don't see alot of reviews for the Adire, I think I've seen just one. But its incredible to see how much better the factory direct...
And the LRS's are probably the most forward of all Rocket speakers. The main Rocket line is even MORE laid back if you can believe it! Actually, I find the amount of detail that Rockets have are as good or better than most brighter more well known speakers I've heard. The difference being that...
I've never heard of a DIY studio monitor. I'll guess that most studio producers and engineers will just go out and buy speakers and speaker building is more for the audio enthusist. There are quite a few good hifi speaker kits out there however.
The thing with any Rocket speaker is that they are voiced to have that "fish bowl" effect. That is, they tend to be less bright than alot of brands out there. Its not a flaw, but purposely designed this way. The fact of the matter is, there just aren't that mass manufacturered speaker makers...
For near field use, you should really go with Studio grade monitors. They're made for near-field use. I suggest Mackie 824's, they're very popular in studios. They're also active speakers so they have their own amping. Review of HR824
Depends on the dialect like Yee-Ming said up there. Theres roughly 30+ Chinese dialects with Mandarin and Cantonese being the most well known. Luckily, my last name is pretty easy to say :D
It seriously depends on your taste. Go audition, audition, and audition. Then you can get an idea of the type of speaker that you like. Maybe you'll like the bright sound of Klipsch. Maybe you'll want something more warm and laid back. Personally, I'd go for an online speaker vendor. They...
For anyone interested, these B-techs are one of the best mounts. I use them for my Rocket RS150's. There's no messing around with screwing, just a very good clamping system. And the clamp is more adaptable to deep speakers than the Vogels.
Best Buy has the JBL NSP-1 package on sale for a measly $200. If I were on a tight budget, I would definately go for these. Heck, I would pick these over the Bose products ;) Best Buy
Well, for one its a floor stander vs. a large bookshelf. Thats definately an aesthetic consideration. Keep in mind also the RS550 has 2 6.5" woofers as opposed to the M22's 5.25". For me, I prefer towers for stereo listening since they fill in the mid-bass region, something most bookshelves in...
Johnal, Go to your local electronics shop at least and get started listening to any decent brand of speakers and receivers. Find a high end shop if you can. Its the only way to get any idea of what you want.
Sorry I got the HK 7200 and 1001 mixed up! The HK 7200 is indeed a regular analog receiver as opposed to the HK 1001. You should definately go audition as many speakers as possible. I know its tough to listen to speakers you can only buy online, but there is audioenvy.com that lists owners of...
Hey Johnal, With your budget, you have quite a few options. The HK is a good receiver though I haven't personally heard it. Its a digital receiver much like the Panasonic XR-45 and there are very few receivers like these beasts. If you want something more traditional, you could get a number...
Nyet.. the CC-370 is the center channel for the Monitor line. For the Performance line, there's the ADP-170 for dipole/bipole sorround and the CC-170 or 270 for a center.
You seriously can't go wrong with each speaker. I have Paradigms in front and Rocket RS150's in the rear. Now I don't have the Vifa tweeter the other Rockets have but my impression of these speakers are just as others have said. Extremely smooth and laid back so you can crank it loud and...
Maybe its just me but the Monitor series has a forwardish high and a laid back mid/bass to me for an overall laid back sound. Overall they sounded more laid back then the Mordaunt Short and Klipsch's I heard in the same session. Overall for me, I think M7 < M9 < M11 would be my preference...
Both have their pluses and minuses. I ended up with the 9's over the 7's because it was available to me at the time. I listened to both and didn't feel the 9s were muddy compared to the 9's at all. The 9's definately have a better mid-bass and bass extension though. Personally, I like Onkyo...
I just mounted some 25 lb each, fairly deep Rocket RS150s with these sweet mounts. BT77 They have a side clamping mechanism thats secured with bolts. Very nice and you dont have to drill. Crutchfield also has em. Take a look for yourself.
Take a look at these too. They look to have top mounts to them. I have no idea how good the Tykes are but the rest of the Rocket line is very nice. Tykes
There's a few options you have for this size. You have the HSU Ventriloquists and ProMonitors like the above stated. Theres the online only Onix Rocket Tykes. There's also the Paradigm Cinema series and most of the packages from Cambridge Soundworks are fairly small. I'd go investigate each one.
