I just had the same dilemma and I chose the Yammy 1400. As per the Sony the 1000 and 9000 are using analog transistors while the 2000, 3000 and 5000 are using the digital. You wonder why, in their top model, they didn't go digital?

Make sure that the 2nd room function does not need another amp. I believe that you will need the second amp, but not sure.

Can't decide between the Yamaha RXV1400($1200CDN) and the Denon 2803 ($1100CDN). Most of the features are the same but the Yammy will up-convert any video input to component. Any help or experience out there? It would be greatly appreciated :b

I just took a listen to the Bose setup and it too almost sucked the credit card right out of my wallet. Then I went downstairs and listened to the Energy Take5.2 and for half the money they are much better. I have only started to listen to speakers any other IMO are a better value.
