I've listened to some Wilson watt puppys playing from a regular CD and they really did sound fabulous. One interesting thing the dealer pointed out was how unforgiving high end speakers are. You can hear EVERYTHING. The air con unit noises the sound engineer thought noone would ever hear...
Game consoles currently only give out a 480p signal via component cables. Thats is pretty much it right now until the PS3 or they upgrade the xbox360. Xbox 360 uses a regular DVD drive and as far as I know upconverts non-480p games to 480p. So still 480p maximum. So dont worry about...
I swear if I had a dime for every timer someone quoted the same CNet review of the 3806 I could retire. The 3806 is NOT the cause of the HDCP problems. EVERYONE is having them. Go look on a forum for JVC receivers and youll see what I mean. The HDCP standard hasn't been implemented...
Because they dont need to. Why do most pyramid schemes rely on huge marketing and flamboyant 'presentation'. Bose needs it to keep the suckers rolling in. Most folks are taken in by the marketing and think it sounds 'OK' unless they hear a proper system. Would you admit to all your...
HDMI out from the cable box to the 3806 prolly wont work. HDCP issues are well documented and affect most HDMI devices. The 3806 is no exception. I would use whichever HDMI devices work and stick to component with the rest. The component to HDMI conversion feature in the 3806 means you...
Well dang... just makes me want to abandon my plan for Rotel seperates and B&W 603s..... Not. Now I'm sure IT ( The 'iBose' in the link ) sounds 'OK' but can hardly compare to a proper system. I'm not allergic to MP3s in the slightest (I wuv my Nano and SR60s) but for some serious...
I bought a 3806 and didnt even try the HDMI to cable box thing after I did some research. Stuck with component instead. The component to HDMI output seems to work great so I managed to free up some cables! Everything else thats connected works fine. I checked out the specs on the 2807...
There seems to be a few of these 3805/3806 threads popping up lately! Maybe a search would help find you detailed answers so folks dont have to repeat themselves over and over. Short version: 3806 has a ton more features than the 3805 if those features are of use (e.g. 3806 does HDMI...
Short answer is yes and no! It all depends what you want out if it and what else youll be adding. I went for the 3806 because it had more component inputs AND HDMI plus the analog to HDMI conversion. I had run out of HD inputs on my old receiver. Plus I was intrigued about how good...
There are three terms to worry about as far as I know. 1 - First function takes a composite or S video signal and changes it to component video output. 2 - The second takes the input resolution (e.g 480i) and changes it to a 'higher' resolution such as 1080i or deinterlaces it to produce...
You hit the nail on the head!! All the negative comments about the 3806 'not upconverting/scaling' are missing the point when it turns out the Yamaha (which DOES) doesnt do it very well at all. As do any at this price level. So why bother? I suspect the Denon 2807 wont be much better...
If you take a peek at that review it says that 'where possible feed it with progressive inputs'. Basically the upconversion & scaling are not up to reference standards and as such wont provide the same PQ as if you had used an upconverting DVD player or simply fed it a 480p/720p or 1080i...
I actually OWN a 3806 and would like to point out that the 'upscaling'/'upconverting the 3806 does works as follows: Composite/S Video goes in as composite/S video and out thru HDMI as 480i. Component is transferred at its native resolution, i.e. if it comes in on component as 480p, it...
Well the 908s (if I go that way) will be sat in a 26' long by 13' wide room that opens out onto the kitchen/diner area. The ceiling is 12'. Theyll be paired up with an SVS PB12-ISD and I'll be keeping the Primus 150 surrounds and center. If this isnt a decent fit I'll stick with the...
The Denon 3806 has a ton more features than the 3805. HDMI switching, Audyssey, XM, analog to HDMI conversion, etc etc. Read up on the Denon website. However, HDCP & HDMI switching is going to be an issue not matter what receiver you buy.
As soon as the new SVS is paid for I'm going to upgrade the front (I currently have Primus 360s). Ive managed to whittle it down to two choices - the B&W 604 and the Mordaunt Short Avant 908i. Ive listened to the B&Ws and they sound great but I cant find anywhere local to audition the...
Depends what features you are looking at and what you want to use the receiver itself for. Do you have HDMI compenents etc etc. More info might help folks give you informed opinions.
As far as I know. I thought it was stated on the Denon website but I cant find it, though the 3806 manual says 1080p pass through is supported for both component and HDMI.
Personally I play DVDs at 480p. I think just about every DVD player from wallyworld $40 specials up have progressive scan and they too, play at 480p. HDTV comes in at 1080i natively. I guess I am wondering what the benefit of upscaling from 480i to 1080i is, or under what circumstances...
To my knowledge theres no such thing as a Denon 3807. I've seen both the 3805 and the 3806 (I own the 3806) .. and theres the upcoming 2807, which IF I had waited (doh) I would have bought instead. The only model above the 3806 is the 4306. Any more info ?
Remove the spaces in the 'http' part and theyll work. I have Infinity Primus speakers too (150s/360s) and love the sound tho shortly the Infinity sub is being replaced with an SVS. I'm not surprised it sounds better than the BOSE......
You mean the 2807 by any chance? I own a 3806 and have had NO problems with it. The HDMI thing is a problem regardless of whos receiver you buy, not just Denon.
Well the JVC has only 2 component inputs so it looks like that aint going to work. If your thinking of using the DVI on the cable box to the HDMI connection on the Pioneer.. forget it. Problems with Motorola cable boxes & HDCP are well documented and odds are youll get no picture. If...
I did the search on Audioholics. Very enlightening. This guy is obviously a wanker and needs banning or something. Every review I've read (Pretty much anywhere) say that SVS subs are damn fine products. In fact right now I'm trying to decide between an ISD/2 and a PB12 Plus for my...
I run Primus 150s at the back and 360s at the front with the center and sub to match. I think it sounds really good though I'm looking at upgrading the sub as I think its a bit underpowered. I would certainly buy the other speakers again. Hopefully the 140s sound as good.
I think Travis hit the nail on the head with the comment about component video. Since HD is pretty common nowadays most folks are upgrading their old receiver to cope with the many more component capable devices such as X Boxes/PS2 and progressive scan DVD players. Not to mention how cable...
