I am trying to find a place where I can hear the Polks...best buy doesn't have them to listen too. :(
Search is going on...I did hear the B&W 685s again...drooool.
Some more info...
I am pretty much stuck with the layout of the room since I have already run the cables in-wall. Here is a photo of the wall where the tv and speakers are and the inside wiring. Thanx to advice from here, I did end up with CL2 cables.
I will give Martin Logan and Def Tech...
What's weird is that when I was in BestBuy to hear the B&Ws...I heard Def Techs and also Martin Logans....to me, I didn't like their sounds..felt shallow for me. B&Ws were impressive on the other hand and also out of my budget range! :(
Since I can't have floor standing, many of the options are out. Bookshelf or in-wall are what I have to focus on.
How are these Yamaha speakers? Would those be an upgrade from my current Onkyos?
The alternative is the Polk mentioned earlier.
And I am seriously considering the BIC sub..but...
So the consensus is that other speakers would sound better than the current Onkyo setup I have...right?
Well, in that case, I have to start searching...I like the floor standing ones, but my SO may not be so happy. She likes the in-wall thing, but I have convinced her that at least the...
I am in SoCal....
one of the things that I liked about the B&W is the feeling of this enveloping sound. I felt like I was right there at the recording of the music that I was listening to (tested at BestBuy).
I would like that feeling...is that why "timber" matching is important? I have to...
Hello All,
I have recently wired up my home theatre and this is what I have:
The room is about 15' x13'
Yamaha 673 receiver
Vizio 60" TV ( I like the images I see on there)
Ran 14 guage Monoprice speaker cable.
Using older Onkyo skf200 speakers for fronts and center (they were part of my...
I am not sure if they were union...I would guess so.
I am glad it looks code at least.
Now...will I have any static issues or other sound issues due to the high voltage stuff crossing / running parallel?? Even a 240v being near the speaker wires and digital coax.
I got the Aurum cable and MediaBridge (both 50'). They both look well made. They both look like made in the same factory too. I have used Mediabridge before and are good cables.
Hi All,
My house is currently in building phase. I had the low voltage guy run my speaker/hdmi/ethernet/subwoofer rca cables run.
However, the electrician was in there first and has run his wiring. Inevitably, the low voltage cables had to cross (at 90 degrees when possible) and avoid running...
Hi All,
I am most likely going to upgrade my TV (a Mitsu 55"inch HDTV with a matte screen) to a TV that I can hang off the wall.
The room it is going to go in is bright with light coming from various angles. I really love the Mitsu and how it cuts out the glare and I can watch TV with nice...
I am buying a new home and it is in beginning construction phase. I have decided that I will do HTPC...but my PC is in a different room. I would like to use the computer for general purpose (photoshop/word/excel/internet) in my office. But then also have the HTPC feature available on my TV in...
Thanx for all the advice..I am taking it in. :)
I went to Best Buy and heard the Definitive speakers and couple of others...higher premium ones...Out of 4 speakers I heard....I fell in love with Bowers & WIlkins one..the 600 series bookshelf (link)
If you had the money ($440 in store...
Thanx!
So I am going to research the Polks more..especially the Polk Audio New Monitor 45B for the fronts. But how are the Polk Audio TSi100???
Not sure on the center channel...15C or 25C or CS2...any recs??
No idea on rear speakers yet....perhaps keep my Onkyo for rear and save some money...
Hi All,
I have a Onkyo HTIB some time back. It still is working.
The receiver is the Onkyo HT-R510... It's a 6.1 system with the following specs:
6-channel amplifier
100 watts per channel min. RMS at 8Ω, 2 channels driven
from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with no more than 0.08% total harmonic
distortion...
That's a good idea Jorge. I will attach a couple of RCA cables. As far distance is considered, what is a fair distance? is there a guide? I did a search on here and can't find anything about it. I must be pretty bad at searches or something. Thanx again.
Thanx for all the answers here. I tested out the Foreign films with PCM and put it on NeoCinema and All Channels. It sounds much much better. I will just have to switch to Bitstream on DD5.1 when I watch English movies. I need to calibrate my system as you indicated. I did get the...
THanx for the quick reply. The reason why I want All Stereo available for DVDs is cause, 1. The DVDs we watch do not have very good DD sound. I think they do not know how to make movies with True DD. Foreign Films. 2. Sometimes my Granddad sits for movies and he can't hear well. So...
I have a 5 Disc Panasonic DVD player that I have connected to my Onkyo 6.1 HTIB - Model # HTS760 (Don't laugh..I do not have a lot of money). It is connected to the receiver through a TOSLink cable. However, it was connected using RCA cables for a test run. When under RCA, I was able to...
Thanx for the help. I bought the Samsung 931 DVD player and hooked it via DVI and as Andy said the 720 doesn't work. Why is that??? Also at 1080, the picture looks really bad compared to my progressive DVD player. Time to return the Samsung. :frowning: Oh well, I gave it a...
