Just watched this for the first time over the weekend courtesy of Netflix. What an outstanding movie. I haven't seen A Prophet yet, but I would be truly amazed if it were indeed better than The Secret in Their Eyes. I may have to buy this one. And, I agree with the previous commenters...
Adding to the praise... great review, Michael. One of the best I can recall reading on HTF. I already spent some nice time last week poring through the extras on disc 2, now I am really itching to watch the film again.
My copy arrived yesterday so watched the theatrical version last night; it's been a few years since I've seen it. Very good stuff. I'm not a picture quality expert, but what I saw looked great to my eyes. Plenty of grain, but still lots of detail, and no noticeable digital enhancement getting...
Yes, it is possible. There are a few apps that can handle that. Check the Business category. One is called Quick Office, and there are a couple others. None are perfect, and very large files will be cumbersome, but if you just need light or moderate ending they might be just what you want.
Here are some of my favorite apps (iPhone 4):
Non-games...
Push Gmail (a pretty decent gmail app that replicates the functionality of the website)
Todo (I've tried a few different to-do list apps, but I keep coming back to this one)
My-Cast (the best weather app)
Sportacular...
For what it's worth if you select Defective/does not work properly in Amazon's drop-down box on the return page, you won't have to pay for the return shipping.

One of my very favorite movies is Witness. And I think my favorite moment/scene in the movie is near the beginning, when Samuel (the Amish kid) is in the bathroom in the train station. I won't go into more details in case someone hasn't seen it, but very tense and very well made. Love it...
Thanks for the review, Matt. This movie is one of my faves, a real gem from the late 60s. You did a great job reviewing and describing the movie. And the audio commentary sounds fascinating. I have the older non-Criterion DVD version from several years ago; have you seen that version by any...
In case there was still any doubt that Oppo is a fantastic company for customer-service, I grabbed the mail out of the mailbox this afternoon and inside was a little envelope from Oppo. I had no idea what it could be. So I opened it up and inside were two items along with this note:
Wow!
For what it's worth, you don't need the hardware mod, just a different firmware (I won't link, can easily find by googling). I installed earlier this week and it works. Now I can finally unload my DV-980H.
For what it's worth, my copy from Amazon did not have movie cash. Little disappointing, but not a huge deal since it's hard to make it to the theater these days with a rambunctious toddler around.
I watched the entire documentary last night and can vouch for this. What a truly fascinating making-of documentary. Great a/v quality on top of that, which most studio's treat as an afterthought on the special features. I wish all extras could be this rich. Kudos to David Prior once again, and...
Though to be clear, the TV version of Halloween is only available on DVD. Wish they release a deluxe blu-ray of the film with both versions, all available extras, and of course the correct color timing.
I watched this the other night (with the Japanese TrueHD audio). I must say, while the booklet that came with was a bit hyperbolic, the audio really is outstanding. It's one of the best I've heard. Extremely active rear surrounds, very crisp dialogue, good range of sounds, etc. Definitely worth...
Thanks for the informative review, Matt. Very good to hear, as I preordered this fine movie and expect it to arrive this afternoon. Really a very underrated and underappreciated political thriller. And very well said, Richard. You captured it perfectly.
Other than short-sighted greed, I simply can't understand why the studios refuse to have more realistic pricing for Blu-ray discs, particularly for sets like TV shows.
This is great news!! I am especially pleased to hear them say that the prices will be the same as the standard def versions (though I won't totally believe it until I actually see it).
On a side note, I wonder if the Criterion Blu-rays will have their own spine numbering system?
I must admit, I pride myself on being someone who knows a lot about movies, but I've never heard of this movie. But from the remarks here it sounds like a good movie. I have added it to my list of movies to see, and hope that it hits DVD soon. (The number of movies that still haven't been...
I watched this last night for the first time (didn't see it in the theater) and enjoyed it quite a bit. Count me in as a big fan of the audio track. Just a really immersive experience, with one of the more active LFE signals on any DVD that I can think of at the moment. I think I'll be buying...
Count me in as someone who is a big fan of the packaging. Very classy. Nice to finally see an HD release step outside what has become the norm of just providing a basic case with no insert or accompanying reading material whatsoever. I haven't had a chance to watch my copy yet, but I can't wait...
This isn't really related to the case design, but I really hope studios don't totally abandon the use of inserts and booklets. There have been very few Blu-ray discs so far to include anything worthwhile - its mostly just silly inserts about upgrading firmware or how awesome blu-ray is (despite...
