Onkyo Announces 'Works with Sonos' Receivers

I'm so naive... not only does it still require the Connect, but also doesn't apply to my 676. https://www.onkyousa.com/sonos/index.php

    back after a long hiatus

Howdy all. Several years ago, I was a regular here, but life's twists and turns have taken me other places with my spare time. Have never lost my love for home theatre, and have instilled it in my kids too. When we moved from our place in 2010, where I had done my first projector setup, our...

Onkyo Announces 'Works with Sonos' Receivers

That is super news for the likes of me that have both Sonos stuff and an Onkyo receiver. Just hope mine will get the new firmware. We currently have two 1's, a 5, and a Connect. The Connect has moved from one room to another in my house a few times (between my theatre room and family room)...

Any other integrated cards than ATI?

So, can anyone clarify the difference between the tuner portion of the AIW cards and TV Wonder Cards? I think I read somewhere that the AIW cards use software to encode the TV signal (which would likely translate to your CPU working harder and lesser quality). Sounds like though, that the TV...

Any other integrated cards than ATI?

Merci Francois. I have checked out the Dscaler site; unfortunately it does not support the Hauppauge 250, which I am most likely going to be getting as a capture card. Its too bad ATI doesn't make a bit better tuner; would be nice to support a Canadian company. Regards, Jason

Any other integrated cards than ATI?

Thanks for the thoughts and sorry for my "return delay"; thought I had e-mail notification on here, but alas did not. I have done some more research on the subject and am now reconsidering about the AIW. I will still have to get a new graphics card(one with DVI); it was because of this that I...

Removal of protective screen on 51S500

Thanks to all for the info. Am I wrong, or is the protective screen not more "durable" than the lenticular? I kind of thought it was mainly there for that purpose. Ultimately, wouldn't restacking (or removing) leave me much more vulnerable to permanent damage from the "attacks" of my 16 month...

Just got Hitachi 57S500. Few Questions.

Try checking out the forums at keohi.com/keohihdtv (I'd post the link, but can't as a new member here). You'll find some good info there about service menu tweaks to reduce red push and ghosting seen in some of these sets. I think specifically it is found in a pinned topic in the Hitachi forum.

Removal of protective screen on 51S500

That's an interesting opinion Miles. Have you done much comparison of sets with it on versus off? Just about all I've read on the subject here (and other discussion groups) says that the image quality improves with the protective screen off. Seems to be one of the things that ISF techs try to...

Removal of protective screen on 51S500

Thanks Miles. This sounds much less complex than what is suggested on keohi.com/keohihdtv Think I'll pick a day when my little man is out of the house for a while, and watch a movie or two with it off to see what all the rage is about. Jason

Any other integrated cards than ATI?

Does anyone other than ATI make integrated AGP video/tuner cards? Because I don't presently have a tuner card, _and_ would like a better video card, the All-In-Wonder products are looking quite attractive. The cost of ATI's products seems a bit high to me though, so I'd be open to exploring...

Removal of protective screen on 51S500

Anyone out there know of a good place for step-by-step instructions on removal of the protective screen for the S500? I want to remove it to clean some milk that _mysteriously_ got between the two screens. Read...my 16 month old on a rampage. Then, need to put it back on, due to the original...
