My one-year-old SP4800 has recently begun emitting a very loud noise when you switch it on. This noise comes and goes, but sometimes it won't stop and you can barely hear a movie over it. I'm in Canada and no longer have a warranty, so I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if...
I avoided this film in the theatre mostly because I'm not a Crowe fan - but when I popped in the single DVD with DTS sound, I was blown away. Adam is right, the sound on this disc is amazing. The opening scene with the ship rocking, boads creaking, wind blowing, waves lapping and the the peel...
24: Season 3 The DVD collections of this series spoiled me so much, I can't watch it on TV, so I'm anxious for Season 3 to come out (probably September). Cheers, Grant
I found the Superbit of this title to be too dark and overly murky, so much so that I had difficulty seeing what was going on in some scenes. I was very disappointed in the transfer. Cheers, Grant
At the very end of the movie, when the camera looks down on the Hobbits waving to the ship, I was sure I saw six shapes standing on the dock, but in the closeup there were only three people. Did anyone else notice this? It was just something that caught me eye and made me go "Huh?"
24 is one of the best TV on DVD titles out there. It's almost guaranteed that you'll love it. CSI doesn't pack anywhere near the excitement that 24 does. Cheers, Grant
Yeah, you can do two things without problem. I no longer have the second monitor hooked up as this isn't a "working" computer but more of a plaything fr games, PVR, etc. I'm hooked up just using the regular monitor cable between the Radeon 9600 Pro and the X1. Cheers, Grant
Hey Gang: Just finished building my HTPC and hooked it up to my InFocus X1, displaying a 100-inch diagonal screen. The guts of the box are a P4 3.2 GHz, 1 Gig 400 MHz RAM, 160 GB SATA Seagate( + 200 GB SATA Maxtor for PVR storage), Plextor 8x DVD+RW burner, etc. Once it was built, I hooked up...
I was wondering if anyone knows if there was ever a box set of Frank Capra's best movies - Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, etc. I, of course, have It's A Wonderful Life to watch this Christmas, but would love to pick up some of his greatest hits. Cheers, Grant
I'm building a new HTPC to connect with my InFocus X1. My question is, what is the best way to connect the HTPC (ATI Radeon 9600 Pro) to the X1? I was thinking of using a long monitor cable to attach directly to the VGA port - or I could use the VGA-Component break-out cable and use a longish...
I actually prefer the 4:3 X1 since I use the projector for everything. When watching TV or TV on DVD, I have a huge 100" diagonal (80" horizontal) image that fills the screen. When I switch to widescreen DVD, I still have a nice 80" horizontal image, but simply add black bars to top and bottom...
"Nick, if your mainly going to watch DVD's why are you leaning towards a native 4:3?" I actually prefer the 4:3 X1 since I use the projector for everything. When watching TV or TV on DVD, I have a huge 100" diagonal (80" horizontal) image that fills the screen. When I switch to widescreen...
It has been rumored that the new X1 will be cheaper, but lose the faroudja (sp?) processor that makes DVDs and TV look so good. If you want it for home theater, it's best to buy the current model - otherwise you'll need to look at Infocus's ScreenPlay models. Cheers, Grant
I use my X1 for everything. The built-in faloujda deinterlacer works great for TV (regular cable connected through my VCR's tuner). Obviously, it's not as bright as a regular CRT TV - and if the picture looks bad on a regular TV (bad lighting, etc.) it will look worse on the large projected...
