I imagine that all depends on how much in royalties she's owed. Then again, with the upcoming live-action film hitting theatres, I doubt Sony would let a small royalty issue stop them from cashing in on the "synergy" ;)
It doesn't say anything about the voice actors, but this is from the official description: This DVD Box Set collects all 52 color episodes masterfully restored on 10 DVDs plus an additional bonus DVD packed with tons of extras.
The first release was a partnership between RightStuf and Rhino. This time around, RightStuf is doing it "right". They've got Astroboy coming as well (early next year I think).
I think it will be a physical box containing the three previously released discs. I don't expect the box to be all that spectacular though... just something simple to entice folks for the holidays.
It also keeps the show on budget as these eps have less FX/makeup/costume costs. Personally, I prefer the offworld episodes and just about anything involving the Asgard. I could do without the NID stuff... Kinsey especially annoys me.

Considering they're supposed to be making a 3rd film, I doubt anything would get released until that hit theatres... marketing tie-ins are a powerful force when it comes to DVD releases.
Yeah, that July 12th date is still majorly UNCONFIRMED. However, it did come via someone who talked to Angus Oblong (the show's creator) about it, so it might pan out. We'll know soon enough.
There have been three different versions of Astro Boy throughout the years. The first came in the 60's, the next in the 80's (the one you likely remember) and then this newest incarnation from 2004.
Unless you're still a kid, you're thinking of the wrong series. This is the NEW Astroboy series that just aired on Kids WB this past year. The set is fullscreen (should be wide) with English, Portuguese, Spanish audio (should have Japanese too, but doesn't)...
The show got cropped when the series made it's debut in the US on Kids WB. It should be in widescreen, but sadly isn't.... no original japanese audio either.

The thing is, most of the limited CD releases you mention are already mastered and prepared for that format. The same is not true for many old TV shows... they don't exist as digital copies yet. That's a large and prohibitive cost that likely holds back any sort of low-run, limited edition...
Considering how long of a delay Season 2 received, I'm not surprised to see Season 3 coming out so soon after. They've probably been done with that set for some time now. I'm sure the entire series will make it out too... there were only 5 seasons (with the 5th being a short one).
