Well I got up this morning ready to fix this mother of a sub. Took out the amp and driver and checked all of the connections. Everything seemed intact. I then conected only one voice coil at a time to the amp and now each of them seemed to be working! What the heck? I then connected them again...
Thanks Brian, I am going to do that once I make sure that all of the wires are connected. I will also try the voice coils, one at a time. Wish me luck.
no output at all, which has me concerned. I am hoping that maybe one of the wires on the driver came loose. This would make me very happy. Otherwise, I would think that maybe the amp is bad since I should hear at least something from the driver. Right? I am going to take everthing out of the box...
Good suggestion Lance but I forgot to mention that I do not have a sep. sub output so I connected the sub to the speaker output to the high level input of the amp. One thing that I may try is connecting the speakers to the high level output of the amp and see if that works. rich
Well, I just dove into the diy headwaters and built an ebs box for an av12mkII driver and a rythmik A350 basic amp. I finally got the box ready enough to try it out and put in the driver and amp. Connected it to my sony receiver and turned it on. Nothing. So either I have a bad amp, driver or...
I am constructing a ebs alignment av12mkII sub which calls for a 24.5" long 4"vent. I screwed up on my calculations and the inside vent opening will be 3 inches from the front of the cabinet. Will this make much of a difference? The vent does have a 3/4" flare. Thanks, rich
George, I will be sure to let everyone know how it turns out. I ended up going for the small bottle from woodworkers supply and also got some sponge brushes to keep the shipping% down. I figured that if I am going to spend that much in shipping I might as well order something else. Maybe that is...
Shucks, I just ordered my veneer from them yesterday and did not see it on there web site. I just checked and it still is not on there. I will give them a call this morning and hopefully my order has not gone out. Thanks Brett.
Thanks Dave, I found that as well but they want almost as much for shipping as they do for the glue. I may end up going with them but was hoping for something more reasonable. rich
I would like to try some FSV glue without ordering a whole gallon of the stuff. Does anyone know of any stores that sell less than a gallon at a time? I will be using it to attach some NBL Cherry to mdf. Thanks, rich.
I am planning on finishing by sub with a cherry veneer but I am not sure what kind of veneer is easiest to work with but still look good. It will just be flat and on the sides. The corners will be solid maple along with a maple "table top." Paper backed? Non backed? Help. rich
I just had a sheet cut in PGH, PA at a Home Depot. Although the guy did complain about it hurting his back lifting the mdf (note, I had the other end). The guy looked like he was in his mid 20's. Kids these days!!
Thanks Brett, I checked fosgate's website but could not find any ports listed. I might be missing them however. I also checked out PE but did not see anything that would could be used with pvc. Once again I may be missing it. I was thinking about a 3/4" as well but just wanted to double check...
I am currently in the design phase of building my first sub. A downward firing av12 with an ebs alignment. The port in the design will need to be 24" long with flares on both ends. The port will be on the bottom as well. I am toying with the idea of using either a premade flared port or making...
Newbie here in need up help. I have been scanning the various forums and have ordered a new set up ascend fronts and center (170's and a 340) to replace a set of bose. Now I am wondering if I should upgrade my sony receiver gx700es or try to make a sub for myself. My receiver only has speaker...
