Well it is supposed to rain on Saturday so I may be able to dodge yard work and hang out in my room playing with speakers. Hopefully my wife is not reading this post or she will find some indoor 'Honey-Dos' for me this weekend.
Thanks for all of the good info and opinions. I will have to try the search. I have aquired some very similar bookshelf and floorstanding speakers. PSB Stratus Silvers and the PSB Stratus Minis. I have the Minis set up noe to see how they sound, then I will switch to the floor standing...
Thanks for the info Albert. I shot B&K an e-mail a few days ago and they have not gotten back to me yet. I may have to break down and give them a phone call. I assume I will have to send my receievr back to them for an update. I don't want to monopolize the thread with my questions but is...
Thanks for all of the great opinions. I remember reading (I think in an old copy of Stereophile) that monitors would tend to image better due to less cabinate vibration, blah blah blah .... I was just looking for some personal opinions and the like. Perhaps I should take a weekend and...
I am looking for opinions here so please feel free to be biased. What are the advantages/disadvantages of using bookshelf/monitor speakers over tower speakers? I have heard debate on both sides but I was looking for some real peoples experiences.
If you can get the series 2 for $2500 that is great deal. I got a good deal on my series 1 for $2400. I would have no trouble recomending this receiver. I compared it to Denon,H&K,Rotel, and Yamaha and I love this unit. Also, If anyone has anymore info about the version 2 upgrade I would...
Thanks Ted- I like the thought of changing power cords to ones of better buid quality. I know that there are opinions on both sides of this as well. And having pimped out my cords my not be such a bad thing.:D
I don't have the Denon but perhaps setting the Denon to the DD mode as it's primary choice in the set up menu. This may be what it needs to triger the DD ex. Just a thougt. And the DVD player should pass the signal through the digutal out.
Thanks Chu- I was hoping to find an easy upgrade when I saw those cords. Making my own is an interesting option. But have you heard anything about these cords, good or bad? Dave
While stroling through the local Good Guys I saw that Monster now has upgraded power cords for sale. I know that monster does tend to be a little expensive but they seem to produce a consistant product. I was thinking about picking one up for my subwoofer but before I do I was hoping to get...
Marty- I agree with Curtis. Check on this forum and see if there is someone in your area that have some SVS subs and/or some Hsu subs and take a listen. Both subs look great and you will not be disapointed in the amount of performance you can get for under $1K. Dave
Wow- I really miss alot when I work a double shift and only have a few min. to catch up each day. I just want to encourage those looking for a new sub to LISTEN before they buy. I don't want to beat up on anyone for the choice they made or the lack of choice they made. This forum should...
Well I should have kept my mouth shut when I saw the question but I just could not hold back. Why is it wrong on this forum to sugest for a person to see or listen to which subwoofer he/she likes best. That is what I did. And I did compare SVS and Hsu in the same room moving the subs into the...
Alan- Obviously I disagree opinion. I spent about 2/3 of the dollars and got a Hsu sub that in my system worked better than the SVS. Am I saying that the Hsu is better than the SVS? In my system the Hsu was better. Perhaps in your system the SVS worked better than the Hsu. I just think...
Hey Bobby- Choosing a sub is something that you should let your ears decide. Take some time and listen to each before you buy. Both companies offer a return policy that will allow you to listen to then at home and then decide which one works best for you. Also you could see if there are...
Kincade- I have an Accurus A250 and 200x3 that I just removed from my system. Shoot me an e-mail if you are still in the market and if either of these would meet your needs Dave
Donnie- Thanks so much. That is exactly the type of information I have been looking for. Hopefully I will have some time on Saturday morning to mess around with the setting before things get too crazy around my house. Do you know of any links to any print reviews of this unit? I looked...
Thanks Dave Man- I feel that some time alone this weekend would be in order. So far it sounds great and is working well, but as most tweakers I want to squeeze as much out of the unit as possible. Again, if anyone out there has any hints or tips on how to tweak this beast, please let me...
Thanks George- I have been reading over the instruction manual for the remote and I think I am going to just have to dive in and start programing it. Having a little trouble with the main unit though. Had to hard kill it and reset all of my settings twice already. Other than that the unit...
I am hoping someone out hear could give me a hand with my new upgrade. I just purchased a B&K AVR507 and was wowed at the dealership by the sound and build quality. However while waiting for the unit to arrive I downloaded the manual from B&K's web site. My question is, what are the best ways...
I have the same questions as Burklund, regarding the comparison against the 4802. Has anyone heard this unit? I have heard (from a salesman) that the 4802 is better suited for the audio side and the 3805 has more video related circuty. I am more concerned with the audio section. Also, the...
Sorry it has taken me a few days to get back to everyone. Thanks again for kicking in your comments, feedback, ect. To answer a few questions; Ron, yes you are correct. I did not order both. In fact I was fortunate enough to find people who had some subs that I could both borrow and...
Thanks again Craig- It is so often the case with audio equpiment (much like buying cars) thatas soon as you get your new purchase home, someone wants to tell you that you should have bought this other model because of .... I am exteremely happy with my purchase and I do feel I made the...
Hey Craig- Thanks for all of your advice and all of the great info in this thread. To answer your question, I would have absolutely no idea how to graph a subs performance. The only equipment that I have to actually test a sub is a Radio Shack SPL meter and some test discs. In fact it has...
