I think I will be using the H/K AVR-230. OK match? I think I would rather have a bigger and badder center than better rears, since more stuff comes from the center channel.

Well, I'm pretty sure I'm not going to spend $300 on a receiver and then upgrade in 3 months. I'm just a poor old measly college student... :frowning: I just want something reliable and good that will last me at least 5 years. As for getting the urge to upgrade due to visiting this forum...

I believe the reason why most TV makes put speakers on the sides is because it gives more of a "stereo" sound since the speakers are farther apart on the side than they are on the bottom. Of course, this would only apply to people using the TV speakers and not separate speakers.
