I think you main problems are speaker placement and your tv cabinet. Moving the speakers away from all reflecting surfaces will improve imaging and separation. The center channel in the cabinet can't be good. Try placing it on top as close to the edge as possible and see if that improves the...
Here are a couple of links on other forums dedicated to room acoustics: http://www.audiocircle.com/circles/index.php?board=73.0 http://www.hometheatershack.com/foru...dio-acoustics/
It sounds like the optical block is bad. Here is the text of a post I made on another HT forum that should have some good info for you. Be sure to check out the ecoustics link: I have a Sony KF-42WE610 LCD projection TV. Recently the picture has developed a blue haze in the middle of the...
"I guess I pissed a few people off back there with my "ignorance" and got some "constructive criticism" in return, so I think we should leave all previous discussion behind us and star anew." I would've bet money that this was a prank thread perpetrated by a genius but now I see that your...
"Sub- this is where I have a problem. I don't have anywhere to set it up that will not be completly in the way. Unless I could find a 40 subwoofer cable and them that would put it about 3ft from the best seat in the house. I think that may be too close, but maybe not. Otherwise I am thinking...
If the edges of the cutout are straight and flat you could glue and clamp pieces to make up the difference. Turn the new amp sideways and there is only 1.8" difference in the size. If this is your Avalanche sub why are you changing amps?
You should be able to get it at most auto parts stores or Walmart. I payed about $8.00 a can. Here is a link to the speakers that I used it on. http://www.gr-research.com/images/show%20pic.jpg Here is a close up: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...r/IMG_1245.jpg
The rounded over areas need to be sealed or they'll just suck up the paint. You can seal them by brushing on wood glue thinned with water. Do a search for the exact procedure. You might want to try spray-on bed liner for pickup trucks. You can get it in spray cans from Autozone, etc. I've used it...
I have noticed this volume difference too. When a nonHD commercial comes on, my receiver will switch from Dolby Digital to Dolby PLII and the volume will increase. Of course the same thing happens when I switch from an HD to a standard channel so you have to be ready with the remote, especially...
How do you prepare corn on the cob? My favorite way is to throw it in the microwave in the shuck for about 4 minutes per ear. Then I just shuck it and eat it with no salt or butter.
If you have a circle jig, cut the recess first then make hole for the tweeter. If the 3/4" plunge cutting straight bit is too big for this use a 1/2" or 1/4" and make multiple passes. If you are going to veneer the cabinets you might want to use a 1/2" roundover.
Cut the plug from the transformer, strip some insulation from the wires and attach them to a 9v transistor battery. If the bulb is incandescent the polarity shouldn't matter. If it works, get a proper battery connector from Radio Shack http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search . If...
As a Rural Mail Carrier I'm pleased with the number of people sticking up for the USPS. The Post office does not take any taxpayer money; it relies only on revenue from postage. The recent price hike wasn't because the PO was losing money. It was to create a government mandated escrow account...
Check out this Parts Express project: http://www.partsexpress.com/projects...oys/index.html They may be too big for your application but the price is right.
Have you tried moving the sub around in the room, especially in a corner? 31Hz is not really low enough for HT, 20Hz tuning and more displacement will give you that "WOW". How does the sub sound with music? I made a sub for my computer with the 6.5 Neo Tang Band tuned to around 30Hz and it...
Some schools here in Texas won't let the kids go outside for recess when the temperature is above a certain point. Hell, I didn't even have air conditioning at my school until the last half of my junior year of high school!
Before Hurricane Katrina diesel was much cheaper than regular gas. Perhaps production has been shifted more to gasoline until everything gets back to normal.
I had no bubbling; the speakers look like they were carved out of a solid block of oak. I think the key is to have the veneer on a perfectly flat surface so when you set the speaker on it there will be no waves or bubbles. Then you can work the sides up and around keeping the veneer taught so...
I used 10 mil paper backed red oak from Tapeease with solvent based contact cement applied with a 4" roller. I pressed it down with a kitchen rolling pin. The speaker holes were cut before the veneer was applied. I trimmed out the holes with a razor blade. It might be easier to cut the holes...
On my towers I layed the veneer flat, glue side up, then placed the front of speaker down on the veneer and rolled it up the sides. I did this by myself but having a helper would be better. To get a near invisible seam, put some wax paper down the back of the speaker, overlap the veneer a little...
