What would do a better job with the 480i-to-1080i upconversion: The Pioneer 3500 cable box or my Hitachi 51SWX20B RPTV? My guess is on the Hitachi, but Ron_Berg said the Pioneer also had very high upconversion quality. Thanks!

I currently have the Scientific Atlantic 3100 HD cable box, and it has an inherent design flaw: it only outputs 1080i via component video out, even for non-1080i material. This causes formating issues with my Hitachi SWX51 RPTV since the TV only treats 1080i signals as 16:9 or 16:9 zoom. Thus...

I have that issue occasionally, too. But... My real beef with the 3100 is that the component video output only sends 1080i to my Hitachi 51SWX20B RPTV. Thus, I can only choose from normal 16:9 (which displays the 4:3 signal on non-16:9 material and leaves the black side panels) or 16:9 zoom...

Can anyone speak to the video quality of the Sony 12bit/108MHz (with NSV) video DAC compared to the Denon 12bit/54MHz DCDI FLI2200 video DAC? I can't find anything on the Sony DAC quality on Ecoustics, forums, etc. Also, did the 875 megachanger have CUE and is the 985 expected to have it...
