I'm using a pair of 2.4i's that I got a great NIB deal thru A'gon in my main system. Once broken in, I have been very impressed with the beautiful, full-range image these speakers deliver. I don't understand why they don't get more press, both in the HT mags and online forums like this. I like...
I've had 2 receivers, the latest a Pio Elite 45tx, do the same "possessed volume control trick". I was never able to isolate a cause, and it hasn't happened in the last 6 months. Hmmmmmmmmmm... John
JVC XV-SA602SL I've enjoyed this player for it's DVD-A capability and I haven't used it for anything else. It was < $100 at Crutchfield. Got a great write-up in the Absolute Sound... John
I'm in the middle of a similar process upgrading an Infinity Intermezzo system. Good luck, but get ready for a rude awakening as to the value and difficulty selling your used speakers... John
I don't have a background in consumer electronics and distribution, so I don't speak from experience. But, as was revealed during Klipsch's recent lawsuits to halt unauthorized selling, the vast majority of grey market supply comes from authorized sellers dumping inventory in an effort to manage...
Your point is good and we are in 100% agreement here. I have bought some items at great savings outside authorized channels, but I have done so knowing that I was not getting the mfr's warranty... John
>>WARNING TO VALUED CONSUMERS: The warranty on DENON Electronics products is NOT VALID if the products have been purchased from an unauthorized dealer/on-line E-tailer or if the original factory serial number has been removed, defaced or replaced in any way. Recently DENON Electronics has...
You have 2 choices: 1). Buy from authorized dealer, pay (usually) higher price, get mfr warranty protection. or 2). Buy unauthorized / grey market, pay (usually)lower price, lose mfr warranty. You will have a difficult (and to me, unethical) path if you try and do both. JMHO, John
My company has a suite of small offices, and we were experiencing some problems with our existing cleaning crew. A young man "cold called" us one day and said "I'll clean your office for a month". "If you aren't happy, tear up the invoice I give you and we'll be done". Long story short, we paid...
Cam: I had a similar situation in a much more complicated set-up (7.1, 2 subs, separate SACD and DVD-A players, etc.) and I finally ended up taking the whole thing apart and setting it up like I was putting it together for the first time. This helped me isolate an intermittently bad cable...

I have bought almost my entire set-up from Audiogon, some new and some used. I have based the details of my transactions on the seller's feedback, both quantity and quality. With a newer seller, I use my Amex card thru Paypal (although this adds a 2.9% fee) on the theory that the credit card...
My audio occasionally came a hair AFTER the video... PQ is dynamite thru DVI if your display is native 720P. It is obviously a good match for Sammy DLP displays. John
Serious kudos to all involved!!! Can you imagine the outcome had the story been "sent my defective sub back to BB (or CC or GG or tweeter or...) and it fell through the cracks of their shipping / repair department"? Somehow I don't see the President of those companies responding...
Kevin: I have an AS-F2 behind my tv (I pulled the stand out 18" from the wall to fit it) on a wooden box that raises the top of the speaker 24" above the top of the set. Better sound than any $200 center, and the resulting 6.1 set-up sounds great with multi-channel music. Nothing beats a...
Had a similar experience with the WAF. After she "passively" resisted my attempts to turn our family room into a HT, it has now turned 360 degrees to the point that I have a hard time getting access to watch the sports and movies I want. I knew I was in trouble when she wanted a Tivo for Xmas...
I would at least email Yamaha. Some receivers have recurring problems that mfrs will fix out of warranty. The "Catch 22" for you is, unless you get it fixed, not much value on the resale market. But, if you get it fixed and it serves your needs, why get a new unit??? Good luck... John
