I have a 61" Sammy DLP. I have been very satisfied and about the only thing that I'll buy next will be a projector and a screen I can measure in FEET! (in any display, remember it can only be as good as your source, the built in Faroudja Dcdi helps with sdtv and HD of course is brilliant)

I tried their customer technical service email twice....both returned. I would assume the DVI firmware would have all the latest in it.

I recently got the 5900 and did the upgrade with no problem. Connected to Sammy DLP via DVI set @ 720p. During playback on 3 different DVD's the appropriate closed captions for the scene suddenly came up on the display. I rolled the disk back each time and replayed and it didn't happen again...

Perhaps your display is not compatible with 720p:eek:

I don't remember where I read it but when I was setting up my Def Tech's I read to make them the same. I run my mains and rear effects the same length to the inch....(I get bored)

I realize full tests haven't been done on the 5900 but for a person (me) who is interested strictly in video use and of couse HT sound which product should perform the best? I am seriously jones'n for a new player ( have the Sony DVP-S550D) but I really don't listen to music,so dvd-a and sacd...

I havn't seen any receivers with DVI connections to maintain the best possible connection from the component to maintain the receiver as the switch. I too do direct connections to the display, too bad there aren't any high end receivers with strictly audio connections or manufactured both ways...

OK, This could be strictly a bunch of opinions or personal preference but here goes.... Should one put all video sources through the receiver and use it as a switch if possible or only audio and do all direct connects from each video component to the monitor and switch both as necessary...

True or false I suppose.... Coaxial digital cables will perform better due to eliminating the 2 conversions neccessary in toslink. If true, why are there predominately more toslink hookups vs coaxial? This was in another forum and also stated on Better Cables website so I assume it...

Hello Has anyone used Avia to calibrate the Sammy DLP? I realize convergance can't be done, but what about all the other tweaks? Would it work on a fixed pixel progressive scan display?

Thanks for lookin..I did find out that when using an RF modulator with Sony that the audio input must be selected manually or "it may not work" I found a work around by displaying..not renaming the connections and going straight coax dig. The lites say dvd but the alphanumeric display says cable...
