FS: Da-Lite pull-down front projection screen

HDTV,(16:9) Matte White 52 x 92 in. (106 in. diag.). This screen is about 5 months old and is in NEW condition. I'm selling my front projection set-up to raise money for bills :frowning:. This screen has the black border around the white portion of the screen. I want $199 (cash or Paypal only)...

    FS: Panasonic XP-30 DVD player

Yep, this is one of THE best players you COULD get! Unfortunately, Panasonic cheaped out and stopped making them. This one is only about 4 months old and is in NEW condition, in the original box with all accessories (remote, etc.). Since my projector (that I already sold) only had 40 hours on it...

    Electric roll down screens

There are several electric roll down screens at my work and none have tensioning, and the quality of materials looks the same as my $250 manual pull-down.

FP DVDs only - X1 or other?

If you are sensitive to DLP "rainbows", the X1 will be unacceptable.

Front Projection is the way to go. Off the fence and loving it.

Hmm? The scanlines described in that other thread were horizontal, not vertical, but it mentions nothing about fast forwarding - just comparing the look of the vertically moving image when playing (thin scanlines in image) vs. pausing (no scanlines - solid image).

Thanks Larry! Have you actually done the test in that thread, looking for the scanlines, or have you just not noticed any from previous casual viewing?

Buy a front projector on line?????

Avoid projectorshopper(dot)com! I've heard good things about projectorpeople(dot)com and audiogeneral(dot)com. If you're serious about a projector, you NEED to read the projector forums at avsforum(dot)com!

My new HD Panasonic 47WX53 just made a "Snap Pop " sound?

Beau B, this isn't "bad". It is quite normal for "new" RPTV's to do this because the CRT's are facing up (gravity causes debris inside the CRT to fall down onto the electrode grid and get zapped). Nothing to worry about.

    Optics Cleaning in a nutshell

Wouldn't it be smart to lay a piece of 1/8 glass over each lens? I'm sure you could affix it to the lens barrel somehow if the len's aren't nearly level. That way the lens should stay mostly dust free and the glass can be cleaned without you having to be delicate.

My new HD Panasonic 47WX53 just made a "Snap Pop " sound?

A piece of dust or other debris probably fell onto the grid inside of one of the CRT's and got zapped. This has happened to me. No big deal :)

DRC, possible misinformation, and other options

First, go back and make sure the TV is receiving 480p. Just cycle through the TV's inputs while the DVD is playing and you should see "480P" on the bottom of the TV screen when you get back to the DVD input. Next, make sure the DVD player is set for video or film, whatever it is playing. Make...

A squeaky wheel get the grease..A warranty story.

Didn't you thoroughly inspect the TV prior to purchasing it? I would NEVER buy a TV that has already had major repairs.

    Good optical digital cable?

There are a couple compaines making a flexible "glass" rather than plastic toslink cable. It is SUPPOSED to perform better than plastic. Monster Cable is one of those companies that claim their gold plated connector on their toslink cable makes better connection. What a bunch of liars!

    I have a dilema

Yes, this projector can show anything! The Z1 has composite video, S-video, component video and VGA (PC) video inputs. If you "primarily watch DVD's", get a 16x9 projector like the Z1. It can display full anamorphic widescreen 16x9 (using the full resolution of the chip!), 4x3(unstretched and...

    I have a dilema

I agree with Neil about the front projector! I say keep your current TV for "TV shows" and get something like the Sonyo PLV-Z1 for movies with a pulldown 16x9 screen! You'll have a picture as big as a giant RPTV, but without the big 'o box! You WON'T regret it :)

Concerning Pixel Outages (Am i worrying too much?)

I've never, ever heard of "dead pixels" on a CRT based TV. I'm not familiar with this particular TV, but I assume it is a rear projection unit with three internal CRT guns, yes?
