    Matching speakers from different manufacturers

Thanks. It sounds like trial (and error!) is the only way to go. I'm most worried about movies that have a lot of side to side sound effects and movies with great center channel use like the opener to The Fellowship of the Ring. Since we don't really use the fireplace, maybe my wife will let...

    Matching speakers from different manufacturers

I was wondering if someone can suggest a clean way to match speakers from different manufacturers. I have a set of MB Quart QLS-series speakers (1030's in the front, a 330 in the CTR and and 530's as surrounds). I'm thinking about putting a plasma over the fireplace and this would mean the...

    Velodyne Dilemma

Mike - I actually have a similar setup to yours with the MB Quart 1030s in front, 330 in the middle and the 530s as surrounds. I am driving the system with an NAD T762 and my room is about 11x20. My sub is a PB1-ISD and it is a terrific combination with the MB Quarts; my guess is that you'll...

    Anybody using the SVS PB1-ISD?

Joel, I've got the side with the port about 6.5" from the wall. I moved the sub around a little in the corner to see if it improved the sound but the characteristics don't change much. I think that the placement in the corner itself is probably the most important. Hope that helps.

    Anybody using the SVS PB1-ISD?

I bought a PB1-ISD last summer. The performance is really solid. It's tuned to 22Hz and goes deep enough for me (and way too deep for my wife - we had a picture fall off its hook during the Moria scene in LoTR). One thought on sub size -- it's pretty big. So, even though it isn't as tall as...

    recommendations for bookshelf speakers...

When testing out speakers, I tried a pair of MB Quart QLS 530's. Although I ended up buying them for my current system for surrounds (and the 1030's for my front speakers), they sounded awesome as the two primary stereo speakers. They sound great, look great and have decent base extension. I...

    The "better" A/V receivers...

I faced the same question over the past few months when I was buying my new A/V receiver. I agree with the posts that say the $1,000 mark really isn't 'mass market' and that Denon, H/K and others make great stuff in this range. I ended up with an NAD T762 for around the $1K range and I think...

Soft High-Pitched Tone From Speakers At High Volumes

Thanks Jonathan. My version is 1.20, which is the same version that you show on your website (cool website, by the way!). If it's a hardware problem, I'll either trade for another T752 or... I was thinking about trading-in the T752 for the T762 to get some more power and also get A/B...

Soft High-Pitched Tone From Speakers At High Volumes

More information: I isolated the T752 with one of the speakers on my living room floor to see if this was a problem with poor cable shielding or interference. When isolated like this, it looks like the left front speaker connection and the center channel connection are causing this...

Soft High-Pitched Tone From Speakers At High Volumes

I just installed a new ht system and have been noticing that in surround mode (any mode except stereo), there is a soft, high-pitched tone that emanates from all five of my speakers at volumes greater than -10db (the whine becomes more noticeable at high volumes). I have tried unplugging all...

Speaker Shootout! MB Quart QLS-1030 vs. Energy C6

I am new to this forum and am compelled to tell you guys that this thread has been extremely helpful. I didn't realize that MB Quart made speakers for the home and ended up talking to the Yawa guys and trying the speakers out. I auditioned the B&W CDM line (7NT floorstanders), the NHT...
