RPTV vs direct view - need help deciding

That's good to hear Rick, because while I am sure the 46" Sony projection is going to be nice, I am still a little leary of the pic not being quite as nice as the 34" direct view. But I a sure the $300 I saved, and the 12" larger picture will make it easy to forget the direct view. The...

RPTV vs direct view - need help deciding

James, I recently went through the same desision making process. I sold my 50" Tosh TV to upgrade to a widescreen HDTV. I could not decide between direct view or projection. I ended up going with the Sony KV34HS510, mainly because of the wider viewing angle, and the brighter picture. However...

    Toshiba 46HX83

I am wondering the same thing. I recently bought the Sony KV-34HS510, but am going to take it back, I need something a little bigger. Was going to exchange it for the KP-46WT510 (I need something with an integrated stand), but now I am wondering if the Toshiba 46HX83 wouldn't be the better...

What RPTV would you recommend for 1600

I bought the Sony 34" direct view widescreen last week, but was, and still am torn between it and the Sony KP-46WT510. The 510 wasn't out yet when we bought the 34", but the guy at Circuit City said we could swap them out within 30 days if we wanted. It is a really nice TV, gets good reviews...

Going to get the Sony KV-34HS510 tonight, any last words?

Thanks Bob, I will definitely check out the front projectors when i get the set for the basement. I had heard that they were coming down in price, but have never checked any of them out. I did make the sony 34" purchase last week. Ended up getting a nice deal at Circuit City ($1735) so it was...

Nervous about picture on new 34" HD widescreen...

Thanks John for the advice. I actually think the KV-34HS510 does have the adjustable DRC, but I will check tonight to be sure. Supposedly, the only real difference between the KV-34HS510 and the 34XBR800 is the warranty (longer on the XBR). Anyway, I will tweak the picture tonight with the Video...

questions for owners of sony kv-34hs510...

Just got mine set up yesterday, although just to Directv, my HD cable gets installed tomorrow. Anyway, there are Full (16:9), Normal (4:3), Zoom, and Wide Zoom. Wide Zoom seems to do the best job with 4:3 pictures, doesn't seem to skew it too much in the middle. I am still tweaking things...

Nervous about picture on new 34" HD widescreen...

Just hooked up my new Sony KV-34HS510 last night, and I have a question: Are there any settings that I need to change when watching a digital channel, as opposed to a HD channel? I ask because I replaced a 50" projection with this 34" HD direct view TV, and the picture from my Directv...

Going to get the Sony KV-34HS510 tonight, any last words?

Thanks for the warning Michael. We were pretty set on the 46" projection, but this is for our living room, and the room gets a lot of sun, so glare becomes more of an issue on the big screens. The plan became getting the direct view for the formal living room, and getting the behemoth big screen...

Going to get the Sony KV-34HS510 tonight, any last words?

After much indecision, I have decided on the direct view Sony KV-34HS510 over the Sony projection 46". Going to make the purchase this evening, anyone have any advice? I welcome any comments from owners of either TV. Thanks, Andy
