Does the mission statement say that members of this forum should cram our WS preference down other people's thoats (like the original poster was doing)? I would NEVER buy a P&S version of a film if the WS was available, but that doesn't mean that I think those who choose P&S are "idiots"...
You people still obsessed with this P&S vs. WS "debate"? Sheesh... Pretty funny! If someone disagrees with you, they are "idiots" and "childish"? Pretty "snobish" attitude :frowning:. And a store that PAYS someone to stand in front of the DVD's and explain P&S vs. WS? The economy must be real...
No. Usually when components are plugged into separate outlets, but are connected together via interconnetcs, that is when ground loops come into play. That is, unless it is caused by the "cable TV" ground having a different potential from the houdehold eletrical system.
Dell has free shipping and free CD-burner upgrade right now (about $150 value I'd guess). I just built the cheapest PC they sell (2400 with a 2.2 Celeron) and added a 3.5" foppy drive and 15" LCD monitor. Total was $679/shipped. I'm getting basically the same thing from BestBuy for about $70 less :)
I'd first trying using the composite vieo input to see if the lines went away. If they are still there, I'd guess you you probably have a ground loop problem, but I don't think any of your components use 3 pronged plugs. Are all the components plugged into the same wall plug? Do the lines go...
And for a front projection system being a "ripoff", how much would an 8'... no, make it 6' wide RPTV gonna cost you? $4000? $5000? More? My 8' wide FP setup cost less than $2000 and it came with a spare bulb! Boy, did I get screwed :D
Don't have all the specs now, but we got bascially want we wanted from BestBuy for right at $600 with $150 rebates from Compaq and $150 rebates from BestBuy. It comes with a 15" LCD (that was a MUST!). It's a Compaq system with a Celeron 2.3(?)CPU, over 500MB of Ram and 40x CD-R and about 40G...
Well, duh! :) The original poster was talking about a DLP FRONT PROJECTOR. There are also DLP RPTV's. I wasn't aware that Samasung had a DLP front projector. 9000 hours for a front prjector bulb is about the longest period I've ever heard of. Makes me think they are talking about their DLP...
Samsung what? DLP projector or RPTV? I'm sure the bulb used in an RPTV cabinet doesn't need to be NEARLY as bright as one on a projector, thus giving it longer life.
I'm looking for a "student" PC. Minimums: 2GHz processor, 128 MB ram, 20 Gig HD, CD-burner, 56K modem, Windows XP and at least a 15" LCD monitor. I want a "name brand" PC/monitor. I don't want to spend much more than $500. Possible? Thanks!!!!
You're right Matt. All this talk about HDTV, DVD etc. is a scam. It really is no better than standard TV. Circuit City will really do anything to make a buck! You were correct in taking all that stuff back before coming here to ask questions about it. One of these people would have probably fed...
