What does "warm speakers" and cool speakers" mean? Is it refering to tonal quality? what about a "horn speaker"? what is that refering to? Do some receivers work better with some speakers? I've heard some are better for music, and some are better for movies. There are a few brands in...

These things are so subjective.I think with the right receiver and the right accoustics in a room things can sound entirely different.
I have a Harman Kardon avr 325. Any particular speakers come to mind to go with a HK receiver?
Topic says it all. I need a center, left, right, and 4 surround speakers. Its a tight budget - I really want to keep it under $500 (I have 2 vacations I have to save $ for this year). Any suggestions?
PhilBoy- 16:9 or 4:3? I've heard the rule of thumb for seating distanve of a 16:9 image is the width. i.e. if you have a 70" diaganol 16:9 image, its width is 61" - so you wouldn't want to be any close than 61" (or 5'). This is just a rule of thumb on the minimum distance. I have a 74" wide...
Chris- why do you keep referring to "digital projectors" in contrast to "CRT projectors"? Aren't CRT projectors digital? I thought "non-digital" projector implies that it is film based. Like a 35mm projector at your local theater would certainly not be a digital projector - it creates the image...
In actual movie theaters, SDDS (Sony Digital Dynamic Sound) claims they have 8 channel surround sound. It is: Far left left center right Far right surround right surround left subwoofer Yes, SDDS counts the sub as an entire channel, so they can call it 8 channel, instead of 7.1 In...
matthew, just a thought... you may have actually left them off -- I've found that if the power in my house shuts off for a second or so and then comes back on, my receiver will turn on - even if it was off.
Whenever I have someone over at my place that tries to tell me that Bose is the best, I show them this:

see a Bose product with THX certification? didn't think so
that's just the easiest way to prove that Bose is no where close to "high-end"
I'm in Camp 3 :) I buy all my Monster Cable at very low prices from online retailers or Ebay stores. I've found some prices online (for the same model # Circuit City or Best Buy carries) for as much as half of the price! and yes, Audio Research has very nice cables. I'm using them for my...
I was looking at Circuit City's website and I saw a surround speaker that Infinity makes called "On-Walls". This caught my attention because I don't have much room for my surround speakers, and the less noticeable the better. Has anyone heard these? I'm thinking about going out to Circuit City...
If your talking about the Dolby "Explore our World" Demo Disc. You can get it directly from Dolby, here: http://www.brandlocker.com/dolbycons...5&storecode=20
Has anyone tried using Tile Board for a screen? I got my pj about a week ago and have been using blackout cloth for a screen, the problem is that the cloth is hanging from the ceiling in the middle of the room. So, air conditioning can cause it to shift and can become very distracting...
I like the crisp sound H/K puts out. I've owned a Pioneer and H/K (needles to say the H/L blew the pioneer away). I've spent a long time on demo floors listening to the Denons, but I have to go with H/K.
Try not to go more than 2" into the speaker with the screw. If you can open the speaker up and look inside, I would do that just to make sure you're not hitting the voice coil.
