Have you looked at some of the figures on sales of hi def formats? After the release of the PS3 from Sony it took less than 1 month for BluRay sales to eclipse HD-DVD. DVDEmpire.com has a few quickie figures showing 2007 sales are 33% higher for BluRay than HD-DVD so far. I think this has bigger...

Receivers shouldn't take a full year to come out. I'fd look for them to be maybe Decemebr or Q1 of '07. Particularly on the high end. The companies knew it was coming so I'm sure some prototype hardware is already out there. 2-4 months tops. Of course, affordable gear may be another story...

The Sony BDP-S1 may have had it's final hardware locked down before the 1.3 spec was final. Had to meet that Oct intro date, the extra month for the PS3 may have made the difference there. of course, wouldn't be surprised to see the BDP-S1 slip a little if they decide to rework the motherboards...

Understand that downconverted HD video to 480i is still far superior to current DVD's. When I watch my TS-160 HD OTA on it's S-Video output to my old Sony 36" XBR it kills any other picture I ever see on it. Colors pop, black levels are beyond compare and overall picture quality is vastly...

Preaching to the choir on the value of the Panny to me Thomas. I know it. Some of the newer DLP's which may do a slightly better job at black levels are starting to inch down but I don't think they are quite the bang for the buck as the 900 is. And really were'nt when I got mine 1/2 a year ago...

When the PS3 hits Walmart and Best Buy (among others), I expect BluRay demand will "get there" REAL fast regardless of perceived or actual quality.
