Kenny, When you say "surround speakers" how many speakers are you looking to get. Do you want 5.1, 6.1, or 7.1 and do you need all the speakers or just the surrounds? You'll find that many people dislike Bose for their cost to value ratio, meaning for the same price you could find something a...
John, Send an email to the guys at SVS with a description of your room and setup. They'll be more than happy to reccommend the sub that will work best for your needs. Unlike a lot of "salespeople" out there, they won't just try to get you to buy the most expensive thing. They will work with you...
LL, I don't know if I'd recommend one over the other. I was just trying to give you as many options a possible. I think they're all decent receivers for the the prices.
London, Many people think that speakers are the cornerstone of your HT setup. a lower quality receiver and nice speakers will almost always sound better than lower quality speakers and a nice receiver. For receivers, if you have a tight budget you might want to look into refurbished gear...
George, I'm going to suggest that you start with a solid 5.1 system. You can always add more speakers and a better reciever down the road. I definitely recommend SVS for your sub, but there are also other quality subs out there. Eddie and I both gave examples of solid systems, and a 100 other...
George, I see that your total budget is 3-4k. There are countless combinations of equipment that will give you a very nice setup for your budget. A lot of it is based on your personal preference, this is true with each piece of equipment in you HT setup. Do you want the latest and greatests...
Great stuff all...Thanks!!!!!!!!!!! David.G So, I only need 1 sub? I thought it was 2 in a box....live and learn. And I'm going to have a shop do the install, I won't have the time or patience to do it myself. Anyway, thanks all for all the info.

Well, I'm pretty sure that I would have to do some 'extra' work to fit the 6 1/2 in the 6X9 space, which I don't really want to do. Now, what's the difference/advantage between the dual 2 and dual 4? What kind of amp (spec wise) would I need for each? (Sorry if these are basic questions)

If your going from the TV to the receiver doesn't that only give you stereo, and you wouldn't have an LFE. Wouldn't you have to go directly into the HK from your DVD/Sat to get the LFE?

So I don't need the rear 6X9's? I would think that would leave something out. Don't the rear speakers handle the 'mids'? It seems like there would be something missing if all my (non bass)sound came from the bottom of the door(where my fronts are at). On the other hand, I could probably get...

I've finally finished my HT and now am moving to my car. I have a 98 Honda Accord EX Coupe that I'm trying to upgrade, listening mostly to hip hop & R&B. I've already had a Pioneer DEH7600MP installed and now I'm looking for the rest. I want to replace all of the factory speakers (6 1/2 fronts...
This leads me to believe that there are actually three requirements to be met. The first two are joined by the "and" of the final one. Otherwise, it would have been an "or" to designate seperate variables. But I could be wrong.

Man, I am really sorry to hear about that. I have just 3 words for anyone reading this "Good Homeowners Insurance". Granted that only deals with the physical possesions and not the anger (at least for me there was) and other feelings, but it's definitely better than nothing. Sean
