What do I buy next? Satellites or power amp?

Hello I have a Pionner VSX-806rds DPL receiver and a pair of Cerwin-Vega E-315 front speakers. I'm having some problems on deciding what to get next. A pair of CV satellites with a centre speaker for about $200 or a used Inter-M R500 Power amp for about $200 for the front speakers. I use...

    Receiver Amperage

I would read this post, yes it's long but it's worth it. It's about amplifier amperage. http://www.smr-archive.com/forum_4a/messages/408.shtml

    Receiver Amperage

Yogi, it's 34 amps total in the x40 line and not just in ONE speaker. This amount of current is needed when playing at high volumes and using big speakers or speakers that have a low sensitivity. Remember though that you have losses, too in forms of heat and resistances in the electronic design...

    Receiver Amperage

Michael R Price, you are pretty wrong in saying that a speaker has a nearly constant impedance, the impedance varies depending on the frequency you are playing. If you have ever used a Marantz amplifier with a true power level meter, you know what is said when a receiver needs a nice power...

    Receiver Amperage

PhilMays, that's not what he's asking. I do know that the Yamaha x40 series, like 540/640/740 have an Amperage of about 34 Amperes . The Pioneer VSX-811rds about 31 Amperes The 630 is less than that, should be around 30, maybe a little less since Yamaha designed the new x40 line of receivers...

    connecting 4ohm speakers to receiver?

Try HarmanKardon 670 (Very powerful two channel amp) Pioneer VSX-C100 (multichannel) I think Sony has something to offer in the low profile range, too.

    connecting 4ohm speakers to receiver?

Well, personally I would go for the Yamaha 640 or the 740 or a Denon receiver. A Marantz would be very good, too. Practically any receiver you chose will support 4ohm speakers. If you have the money, go for Harman Kardon or Onkyo. Denon and Marantz aren't that cheap either. I'm not going...

VictorD, what receiver are you planning on hooking those speakers up to?

Cerwin-Vega! E-315 speakers, finally got them: Impedance question.

This is the reply I got from Cerwin-Vega! themselves regarding the Impedance "Hello, An impedance measurement taken at the input terminals of the speakers is a DCR reading (direct current resistance). This is generally lower that the operating impedance when program is applied. Usually 8...

Cerwin-Vega! E-315 speakers, finally got them: Impedance question.

Well I'm currently running a 2ch stereo Marantz amplifier, that's pretty powerful. I had a pair of Gamma speakers (home made, computer calculated box etc) with 12" woofers that I had as front speakers. I used a separate amplifier to power the Jamos as bookshelf speakers (pretty big ones though...

Cerwin-Vega! E-315 speakers, finally got them: Impedance question.

Hello So I got the Cerwin-Vega E-315 speakers and when listening to them in my own environment at home, I can now understand why many hate them or dislike the sound. It's dry and some of the midrange and treble is missing and the sensitivity of the woofer is a bit too high. In comparison to...

    Subwoofer vibrating the door

I don't know about Home Depot, but try Radioshack or any car repair shop. They should carry the isolation foam or the soft carpets that are used under the hood of the car and in the trunk. Any place that sells isolators for internal use, like inside speakers or inside house walls should have...

    Subwoofer vibrating the door

I have the same problem with my door, rattles with the slightest bass. I put isolation foam on the top edge of the door frame and on the lower edge of the door frame. The door is just a little harder to close now but the rattling is gone. It's a pretty inexpensive solution :p

I need your help buying speakers, thinking of Cerwin Vega.

Hello, thank you for your replies. I was out listening to these Cerwin Vegas yesterday (E-315 15" woofer) and to be honest I liked the overall balance of the sound. Even though the tweeter was a bit sharp and the bass a little too overwhelming, I'm sure it can be a little adjusted with the help...

I need your help buying speakers, thinking of Cerwin Vega.

Hello, I'm new here :) I'm going to buy a pair of new speakers to replace my current old Gamma speakers with 12" woofers. They are to slow and the base is too sloppy, besides they can't handle more than 50W of power so they rock bottom when playing a little loud. The speakers will mostly...
