Best Buy & Circuit City - Thanksgiving sale items

All things being equal, I'd rather pay the difference for the Sharp. For me, Polaroid will always be synonymous with the instant camera.

Best Buy & Circuit City - Thanksgiving sale items

In my area, the flyers / inserts for BF sales usually arrive in Thursday's paper (i.e. Thanksgiving Day morning), though a few end up in Wednesday's paper.

Best Buy & Circuit City - Thanksgiving sale items

I saw a scan of the ad online and it's legitimate: CC is offering a 46" 1080p Sharp Aquos LCD HDTV for $1299.99, and the 52" model is also on sale for $2199.99. The scan is a bit blurry, but I think the model numbers are LC-46D64U and LC-52D64U respectively. Heckuva deal on both. :emoji_thumbsup:

    24: Season Seven

Not bad, though I can't help but think of Die Hard 2 when I saw the plane, and Live Free or Die Hard with an organization whose intent is to breach or shut down the United States' computer infrastructure. "...torture him, if you have to." How poignant ;)

I really don't care about football...

Would this be the same football that one British actress, in a GQ interview, referred to as 'rugby for girls' because of all the padding they wore? To be fair, I did follow the NFL for a while (never cared for the collegiate game, as cheerleaders and marching bands annoy me to no...

World’s Tallest Building – in Dubai

60 Minutes did a story on Dubai (included a brief mention of the Burj Dubai) this past Sunday. There are no shacks or slums within city limits, but the labourers employed in construction are housed in mostly barren buildings with little more than floor mats to sleep on at day's end, roughly 20...

Why don't we get CBC [Canadian Broadcast Corporation] Television in the US?

The closest thing to the CBC in my area was Newsworld International, which carried some CBC programming, until the network was purchased by Al Gore (yes, that Al) and Joel Hyatt and it was eventually changed to Current TV  . If one of the other cable or satellite carriers in my area...

    Mitsubishi Lancer...

I think it's a matter of preference, seeing as refinements in other transmissions (e.g. CVT, DCT) offer advantages over a traditional manual setup, particularly with shift times (in milliseconds) and even minimal power loss (handled by clutches instead of a torque converter found in most...

Will Microsoft fix the xbox problems permently?

Technically, every Xbox 360 manufactured prior to the CPU and mobo revision is susceptible to the RROD because of its architectural design. Some unfortunate customers who purchased Halo LE 360 consoles have even experienced the RROD within days of their purchase. If you really want to be safe...

Motorist admits speeding at 172 MPH

Is it because of the stretch of road he was on? A 997-based 911 Turbo has a top speed of 193 mph (311 km/h). It is, as CJ puts it, a sweet car. :D

College Police group get taser happy on annoying Florida student

How the product is pitched to police departments and how it's represented in police training manuals may not be identical to what's advertised on their website. Are there viable non-lethal alternatives to the Taser? They are being explored (link), but I think the Taser found greater favour...

College Police group get taser happy on annoying Florida student

I don't have a documented source regarding the number of deployments in any given period, but all 148 deaths (statistics as of October 2005) are wholly attributed to police use.

College Police group get taser happy on annoying Florida student

The martial arts example is a poor analogy and impertinent to the discussion at hand; this is about the Taser and its unintended consequences. The Taser is marketed both improperly and irresponsibly by the manufacturer as safe and non-lethal; very few police departments have guidelines regarding...

    Optimal placement of subwoofer?

My home is currently being built (still in the framing stage) and prewiring is set to commence shortly. The open layout of the great room (see diagram below) presents a couple of challenges for me: i) where should I have the subwoofer placed within the room? Under consideration are three...

College Police group get taser happy on annoying Florida student

:rolleyes:Did Meyer present a serious public danger to warrant the use of a stun gun on him? Regardless of his line of questions, Meyer was exercising his student free speech rights; in Tinker vs. Des Moines, the Supreme Court states that students ''students do not shed their constitutional...

    Depressing state of American innernets

There is no incentive for the companies to provide more to its users (at current price points) until the FCC revises its definition of broadband threshold speed, which is currently 200Kbps; the House Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet held a hearing in May of this year to...

    Britney at 2007 VMA

I disagree. Attached is a postcard of a 1960s pin-up model: She is not a waif, but rather, height- and weight-proportionate (which Britney isn't). The woman rendered on the postcard has an hourglass figure; Britney does not (as her hips and waist dimensions are fairly close to each...

    Britney at 2007 VMA

I saw a sharper video on Yahoo and she is definitely on the Rubenesque side, i.e. flabby arms and sporting a visible paunch. If she was on a fitness regimen, the dividends were yet to be paid. She should have taken a few cues from Janet Jackson, or at the very least, hired her trainer.

Time for a new washing machine--Advice on top/front loaders?

Thought I'd resurrect this thread, seeing as I'm shopping for a washer and dryer. The two brands under consideration are Whirlpool and Kenmore (moreso Whirlpool, as I have a couple of Best Buy gift cards). Does anyone have any experience with LG TROMM washers and/or dryers?

Need help from the car gurus - Help me buy some tires!

An all-season tire is the best compromise between dedicated summer tires (which aren't recommended for use in snow because of their tread patterns and compounds) and winter tires. Unless you're willing to spend for two sets of tires (one devoted to summer, the other for winter), under most...
