Yes, it is the right unit. PA500 is just Sharper Image's own part number. I bought one this week and have been happy with it. I also plays DVD-R, DVD+R, and DVD+RW just fine (haven't tried DVD-RW yet).

I was also thinking about maybe getting a Denon 900. There is a store close by where I could get one for about $215. How does it compare to the XP30? A plus with the denon is that it would match my 2801 reciever. It also has the Farjouda chip as well, right?
